Description
"The Beatles" White Album
The original First Press of this Double LP issued in 1968.
In addition here we have
- the even rarer MONO version.
- first mother pressings
- "an emi recording" is missing from the label of disc 2 - this indicates an extremely early copy of the first pressing, consistent also with the first mother press numbers on this disc.

*Original 1st pressing from 1968
* "Sold in UK subject to..." printed on all LP labels (first press).
* Dark green Apple label
* Label number PMC 7067 and PMC 7068 ie MONO
* First matrix numbers on all sides XEX709-1, 710-1, 711-1, 712-1
* First mothers on sides 3 and 4
* Mother/stampers are 1GH, 1GL, 2GAT and 4MA
* All tracks of all sides have been played, listened to, and play graded. Although there is some light superficial scratches and rubbing on the vinyl surfaces, all four sides were found to play grade Excellent . Detailed visual and play notes are at the foot of the page.
Outer Sleeve
* A nice example of a well-preserved original MONO sleeve
* Widespine, approximately 9mm.
* Laminated outer sleeve by Garrod and Lofthouse, still with a nice shine.
* Top-loading - 1st issue
* Numbered copy 0619209 stamped on front cover.
* "The Beatles" embossed in the laminate on front cover.
* MONO cover - No writing of any kind on rear.
* Excellent- condition
* Completely intact, no writing, internal flapbacks intact and well stuck down. A few small creases in the laminate. A lttle light scuffing along the top opening edge and on one of the right opening edges.
Poster
* Original lyrics poster.
* Made by Garrod and Lofthouse, correctly identified as such on the back/bottom right corner.
* Rated as Nearmint-
* Completely intact, no tears, no damage, no seam splits, no writing, no pinholes.
* Bright colours, no visible ageing,
Black Inner Sleeves
* Original black Apple sleeves with
matt black paper (with the hole diecut on just 1 side.)
* No seam splits !! on either sleeve.
* Sleeve 1 in nearmint- condition, no damage, no tears, no writing, just a few light creases in the paper.
* Sleeve 2 in Excellent condition, no damage, no writing, two small tears of about 1cm on centre hole.
Photos
*Comes complete with 4 photos, one of each Beatle
* Excellent physical condition with no damage, no tears, no writing, no pin-holes.
* You can tell these are the real thing because the white backs are now slightly yellowing from age.
LP -Visual and Play
All 4 sides of the LPs have been not only visually examined, but also played on a quality deck and carefully listened to all the way through all tracks on all sides.
Side 1 - Visually graded VG+ due to two prominent scuffs which were found to be completely undetectable on the sound track, and some light superficial scatches. Play grading however was found to be at least EX+++ , a nice silent run-in followed by a completely flawless sound on the whole side. I noted no ticks, no clicks, no hops, no background noises even between tracks. Side 2 - Visually VG++ some light surface rubbing and superficial light scratches. Play of the whole side was EX, except track 5 Rocky Raccoon where there were a number of regular noticeble clicks. Side 3 - Visually VG , no deep scratches but light surface rubbbing and superficial light scratches. Play grading was EX to EX+. Some extremely faint background between tracks 2/3 and 5/6 and one noticeable tick at the start of track6. Side 4 - Visually VG with surface rubbing and some light superficial scratches. Play was EX- , some faint regular clicks at the start of track2 Honey Pie and late in track4 Cry Baby. No hops, no jumps, no sticks on any side.
95 minutes of wonderful MONO sound, The MONO mix, which was done by the Beatles themsleves, has quite a number of small differences from the stereo mix done by the Apple engineers. Details available on request.
