Description
Up for auction is a rare, clean copy of The Beatles album "Yellow Submarine" originally released on Apple Records (SAPL 30501) in 1969. This is an original stereo pressing from Uruguay on the Apple label. Come in poly-bag wrapped sleeve typical of Uruguayan pressings. Matrix number in the run-out are same as U.K. pressings, using U.K. plates: Side One: YEX 715-3 & Side Two: YEX 716-1. Appears to be an early deep groove pressing with indentations around spindle holes (see photos). Vinyl weight: 128g. Monochrome back cover with different design from the U.K. pressing. No cut-outs on cover.
Cover is in very nice condition, front image is bold and colorful, no signs of wear or handling. No age discoloration. Corners are sharp, not bumped. A light crease in bottom right, but hard to see. Back cover is nice and clean, no age discoloration, no ring wear. Poly bag has small tear in upper middle but not bad. Overall, very well-preserved. Grade the cover Near Mint Minus (NM-).
Vinyl is in beautiful condition, nice and shiny, no scratches or scuffs. No real signs of previous play or handling. No marks around spindle holes. Very clean. I've had this record since new and it has never been played except for testing. Because this is a pressing from Uruguay, it does not play as clean as a British or American pressing--this is true for a lot of South American pressings. It is not audiophile clean sounding. But this copy, as I mentioned, is virtually un-played, no groove damage from previous play. Grade the vinyl Near Mint (NM). Copies of this record, especially in this condition, rarely come up for sale.
