One of the most rare, sought-after, Beatles rarities! Here’s some important details:

1966, Capitol Records T-2553 LP. MONO PRESSING! Capitol “Rainbow” labels, black with colored “spectrum” rim around the label, does NOT have the “Subsidiary” inscription along the perimeter of the label.

This is a “Second State” (UNPEELED pastover) cover, with the “Trunk” photo pasted over the original offensive image of the Beatles, shown with the butchered baby dolls and bloody chunks of meat.

This is an original, authentic U.S. pressing, NOT a reissue, import, or counterfeit pressing.

Thick, heavy cardboard cover – “American” style.

The RIAA number is “6”, meaning it was pressed at the Los Angeles plant, and that it’s a mono pressing.

Has the easily identifiable, “telltale V” of Ringo’s black shirt underneath the pasteover cover.

We sold another "Butcher Cover" back in May of this year for $700 - that one was in slightly better condition, mostly due to the vinyl. We're only asking $550 OBO for this one - a very fair price!

Note: Sorry, we do not have the original inner sleeve, but can supply another blue Capitol inner sleeve from the same period.

Condition:

Cover: The Front of the cover looks very nice. No attempt has been made to "peel" it to get to the Butcher cover underneath. There's not much ringwear to speak of, but there is a bit of wear near George's head at the top. The back cover has pen markings and some minor ringwear. A seam split is starting at the upper right corner of the LP (it seems less than 2 inches across). A very small seam split on the bottom right (about 1/2 inch). Some wear on the corners and the spine, but not too bad. Overall, I'd grade the cover VG, but that's mostly due to the back and the edges, NOT THE FRONT!

Labels: Not bad, "Nowhere Man" on Side 1 has a tiny "tear", as well as another small one at the top near the Capitol label: Side 2 looks very nice, spindle holes are in good shape.

Vinyl: A Strong VG- to VG. Many light scratches and scuffs. Played fine on our turntable - no skips. But you're not buying it for the way it plays, are you? Much easier to find a better condition vinyl than these covers!

More Shipping info:

We take professional pride in our shipping! LPs and 45s will be sent in cardboard mailers and come with mylar sleeves. CDs will be shipped in bubble mailers. We generally go to the post office on Tuesdays and Fridays. As long as we receive payment for an item before those shipping days, that is when you're item will be shipped. If we get a payment on a shipping day, we'll try like heck to mail it out that day, but we can't make any guarantees.
