Description
I have for auction my ALL ORIGINAL 1963 1ST UK MONO BLACK & GOLD pressing of the album PLEASE PLEASE ME by THE BEATLES on the Parlophone label.
I can guarantee that this is all the original pieces together as this was bought by my Mother in 1963 and I have had it in my possession for the last 31 years. In all that time it has been carefully stored away and I have never played it until now. It has the thick cardboard outer sleeve and correct plastic lined EMITEX inner sleeve. Later pressings had just had a paper record sleeve and the thickness of the cardboard outer sleeve was consecutively reduced per pressing.
It is rare to find this L.P. in such fabulous condition as this, as many of them have been really battered. It would be a real asset to any Beatles fans collection!
I have had someone take a look at my record prior to listing it and they considered the vinyl to be EXCELLENT. It has obviously been played, but has only a few superficial surface marks/scratches that are only seen when held to the light. It plays very well and still has a good sheen to it. The stampers on side 1 read XEX 421-1N, and on side 2 they read XEX422-1N
The labels on both sides have suffered no obvious spindle marks and the gold print is still very vibrant on the darkest black.(see photo). Original ‘Dick James ‘ credits to both labels.
The sleeve can only be considered to be VERY GOOD. It has a very small scuff just above the ‘ME’ on the front and the flipbacks have suffered some slight damage. I have tried to show this best I can in the photos. However on the whole it is remarkably clean for a record that is 47 years old ! The title on the spine is intact. The sleeve displays some slight corner bumps as you would expect but the ‘Angus McBean credit in the bottom right corner is totally legible. There is some slight creasing to the top right corner beside ‘MONO’. I have displayed quite a few photos so that you can get a good idea of what great condition this record is in. Top right corner of flipback reads PMC1202 and the Ernest J Day print credit is on the bottom right.
Although not rare, it is getting more and more difficult to find this record in good condition. This is your chance to own one of the better ones. I will post it out fully insured at a cost of £3.99 including packaging. Overseas buyers please contact me for postage prices.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I have tried to describe this record as fairly and as honest as I can.
Thanks for looking and good luck with your bidding!
On 05-Mar-10 at 08:05:55 GMT, seller added the following information:Must add that the stampers on the vinyl at the 6 O clock and 9 O clock positions read
SIDE 1 1/L
SIDE 2 1/O
This means that this record is one of the very first pressings. First lacquer, first mother and the fifth and eighth stampers. Also reads MT across the centre.
