Description

I’m singling out the Benny Goodman record here because it’s the one everyone wants, but this copy comes in its original 1937 album set, A Symposium of Swing, on Victor C-28. This 2-sided epic track by the classic Goodman band is one of THE great records of the whole swing era, and is just an incredible recording, with drummer Gene Krupa really stepping out as the sort of star of the show… it’s really something to hear on the original 78, too, especially the unedited 12” version. This set comes with two other wonderful records, but it is MISSING the Fats Waller one. The other two are Tommy Dorsey doing Stop, Look and Listen and Beale Street Blues, and Bunny Berigan with his magnificent classic recording of I Can’t Get Started, backed by the Prisoner’s Song. The Goodman disc is about V+ with only a few light scuffs, but really gorgeously clean. It plays just beautifully. The other two are even better, and also play beautifully. The cover has some corner wear and edge wear but is beautifully intact with a perfect spine and strong binding. AND it comes with the super-rare booklet! This is truly a top copy, despite the missing Fats disc. Worth every penny for the Goodman alone.
