Description
Ardent Records (ADA-2904) promo 45 rpm single release from BIG STAR. There is not much argument that the Memphis band headed by ALEX CHILTON and CHRIS BELL were one of the most admired and influential bands. They defined power pop but also touched on deeper and darker themes.
The offered 45 features features an A-side of: WATCH THE SUNRISE. The B-side is listed as DON'T LIE TO ME but due to a mispress, it is actually THIRTEEN. The AS-01127 number on the label and trail-off vinyl is the key.
Obviously, it's one the the top BIG STAR collectibles for it's rarity but also, the track. THIRTEEN did not get a standard 45 release and is considered by many to be close to perfection. ROLLING STONE listed it in their top 500 Songs Of All Time list and regardless of what you think of their Best Of lists, it's pretty heady stuff. The sound of the song on a 45 is unique and arguably betters the LP, reissues and CD's.
VG condition with like new lustre and clean labels. Great player with light sleeve scuffs and a few micro-scratches. The sound files are from the offered 45 tracked at two grams. Buyer pays $3.50 First Class shipping in the U.S. Overseas Airmail is $12.75.
