Description
For auction is the BILL EVANS TRIO's "Sunday At The Village Vanguard," on Riverside RLP 376, MONO,1961.
SOUND: VG
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. The playback does have consistent soft background static, with intermittent tics. Some cuts were relatively better (about VG+), but the conservative overall grade is VG. Not ideal, but not egregious either. Still very enjoyable.
VINYL: VG+
This is one of those puzzling circumstances when a record really doesn't play as well as it looks. It looks very nice! After examining it under bright light, I can't identify any scratches, scuffs, or other marks. It's relatively glossy and fresh looking. To be honest, if I was only grading visually, I'd consider the "NM-" grade.
COVER: VG
The bottom is split about 3/4 of the way to the right (the slit side). The top is split 1/2 way to the right. The spine is solid. All four corners have a bit of fraying, with the lower right missing a tiny bit of paper onto the front. The front cover is nice and clean, without any major wear. It is unmarked but for the letter "J" in marker upper left corner. The back cover is clean, unmarked and in very good shape.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
A rare, sought-after record, in VG condition. A good value starting at $20.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
