Description

Up for auction is a very clean copy of the Billy Mitchell Quintet album "A Little Juicy" released on Smash Records (MGS 27042) in 1964.  This copy is an original, MONO, deep groove first pressing.  White label promo.  Also features the brilliant work of Thad Jones on trumpet and Kenny Burrell on guitar.  Four of the six compositions on this album are by Thad Jones.  The cover is in beautiful shape, retaining its high gloss shine, NO ring wear, tears, seam splits, or losses.  Upper right corner has a tiny ding.  Back cover is beautiful, clean, bone white.  Slight hint of rubbing in top middle, and the slightest amount of age yellowing in bottom left edge.  Hardly worth mentioning.  Overall, I grade this cover Near Mint (NM), one of the nicest examples I've come across.  The vinyl looks great, retaining its original high gloss sheen.  No obvious scratches or scuffs.  Perhaps some very superficial marks from the paper inner sleeve.  A couple lighter spots from the manufacturing process, not handling--and they are not audible during play back.  No marks around spindle holes indicating very little previous play.  I doubt this record has been played more than a couple times, if that.  I've play tested this record and it has beautiful, full-bodied mono fidelity.  Overall plays clean, very little background noise--certainly nothing to distract you from the music even in the quietest passages.  Nice clean sound, though not audiophile.  I would grade the vinyl Near Mint Minus/Excellent Plus (NM-/EX+).  Overall, one of the nicest examples of this album I've seen in a long time.  A must-have for any Thad Jones fan.
