Description

Bing's all-time classic collection of Christmas songs, on original 1945 four-78 Decca album 550. Features eight songs, including his famous version of White Christmas, and two with the Andrews Sisters, PLUS two extra Christmas records by Bing and the Sisters! First, you get the four discs from the original 1945 album:


-Silent Night/Adeste Fideles

-White Christmas/God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen

-I'll be Home for Christmas/Faith of our Fathers

-Jingle Bells (w the Andrews Sisters)/Santa Claus is Comin' to Town (w the Andrews Sisters)

The first three discs are in excellent condition, with minor surface scuffs but no deep scratches and plenty of the original luster. They play near perfectly and are just a delight to hear. The fourth disc, the one with the Andrews Sisters, is a copy from the earlier 5-disc issue, so is not the original record in this set. It is exactly the same music and the same master, but just says sides 9 & 10 rather than 7 & 8. It is the exact correct record except for certain details on the label. Essentially this is the full set, and this last disc is actually a rarer copy anyhow. This fourth disc is in less good condition, about VG, with some scuffs and light marks, but plays really well with only minor background noise. The cover has a bit of wear. The front board has come off entirely but is taped back on (see photo of inside cover), and the spine has been taped at the top. Aside from that there is just general minor shelfwear. It still looks just lovely.

TWO EXTRA DISCS to make up for the torn cover as the VG fourth disc:

1 - Bing with the Andrews Sisters - Here Comes Santa Claus / Twelve Days of Christmas, and

2 - The Andrews Sisters with Guy Lombardo - Winter Wonderland / Christmas Island


Both are VG+ and play beautifully. The first one has a hairline crack but it doesn't make a sound. Merry Christmas!
