Description
This is the first of two highly collectable and rare folk albums made by British group Blackthorn with guest appearance by Ian Campbell on bodrhan. Issued in 1977 on WHM Records the collection of songs are a mix of traditional numbers and covers by artists such as Gerry Rafferty, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and Jim Croce and are as follows;
Rick Rack / Can't Hold A Candle To You / After The Goldrush / That's No Way To Say Goodbye / Blackthorn Instrumental No.1 - Statten Island, Sleep Soond, Ida Morning / Band 'O' Shearers / Lily's Song / My Donal / Blackthorn Instrumental No.2 - Wellingtons Advance, Hare Among The Corn, Ash Plant / In A Song / Broom Besoms incorporating Mrs McLeods Reel.
The vocals by Nina Szifris are lovely and the music is great as well.
The record is in EXCELLENT condition with hardly any background noise and there are virtually no marks on the vinyl. The labels are also very clean which is something considering they are white. The sleeve again is excellent, no marks or writing, just a couple of slight nicks around the top and bottom edges.
