Description

FORMAT: 78 RPM Record

GENRE: PREWAR COUNTRY BLUES

ARTIST: Texas Alexander

TITLES: THE RISIN' SUN/TELL ME WOMAN BLUES

LABEL & NUMBER: Okeh 8673

GRADE & DESCRIPTION (RECORD): V++  (Others might easily grade this one E-, and it certainly plays as such.  The Tell Me Woman side is a spiderweb of lams, but they absolutely cannot be heard at all.  You'll wait a long time to find a better sounding copy of this one.)

(I grade conservatively using the VJM scale)

NOTES: Fantastic sides featuring legendary accompanists - Lonnie Johnson & Eddie Lang guitars on Risin' Sun; and King Oliver (cornet), Clarence Williams (piano) and Eddie Lang (guitar) on Tell Me Woman Blues.

CHECK MY OTHER LISTINGS THIS WEEK!  Ten more premium pre-war country blues records on offer this go round, and some of these are even rarer & tastier than the batch we ran earlier this month!!!

PAYMENT REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE (unless you have contacted me to make other arrangements).  If you cannot pay or have no intention to pay for your winnings, please do not bid.  It seems like such a simple concept, but here lately...
