This first pressing plays with impeccable quality with literally no interference.  The sonic quality is of the highest standard and you could not wish to find a cleaner more precise version.  It has been preserved so well and has clearly received only the bare minimum of play.  The vinyl is also super clean with only some light hairlines.  A FINAL UPGRADE version for sure.

The cover is in lovely condition with barely any wear, certainly nothing stands out, and the lyric inner is indeed in perfect condition.  A STUNNING album!

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still retains a very impressive glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  There are some light sleeve removal hairlines but they obviously have no affect on the audio as detailed below.  The labels are extremely clean with hardly any spindle wear.

Play grading

The intro on 'She's So High' is nigh on perfect with only a couple of dust ticks and then the opening vocal section is indeed...perfect.  It continues in the same way with no intrusion and the playback is stunning!  The mid instrumental is faultless and the remainder is just as strong.  I am confident in saying this is a Mint start to this classic debut album.

The intro on 'Bang' plays with sublime clarity and this standard is maintained throughout.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static there is no 'background' whatsoever and this deserves a Mint grade.

'Slow Down' is superb!  The 'heavier' sections play with such power and there is no distortion on the top end.  The vocal sections are flawless and with only a couple of very light static ticks on the final note this is easily Mint- at the very least.

'Repetition' once again shows just how little this record has been played.  With only 3/4 dust ticks on the intro the sonic quality from start to finish is stunning.  There are no negatives - the depth and resonance of the sound is so impressive and Mint is again an honest assessment of the audio.

'Bad Day' is as close to perfect that you find.  I did hear a couple of minor ticks but they are so quiet you could easily miss them!  Mint-

The entire intro on 'Sing' is 'as new' and from then on plays with exceptional quality.  The finest version I have ever heard this hypnotic track has not one single negative.  It is a stunning version and is MINT and then some!

'There's No Other Way' once again belies the age of the album and plays with tremendous power and depth and of course...no interference.  It's hard to believe this album is now 31 years old and you would certainly wouldn't think so listening to it!  Another 100% Mint track.

The following three up tempo tracks 'Fool', 'Come Together' and 'High Cool' all play to the same high end standard that we have now come to expect!  With not so much as a dust tick the audio is so clean and precise and Mint is again deserved.

The quiet intro on 'Birthday' is STUNNING!  With only one dust tick the clarity is basically 'as new' and Albarn's vocal from that point on is equally as impressive with a clarity that is second to none.  Once again I cannot emphasise just how good the audio is here and that same level is kept up on the powerful end section.  Mint from start to finish.

'Wear Me Down' ends this fine album with superlative audio.  Such strong work from Coxon here and the playback is just phenomenal!  Great production here also.   Despite being the final track there is no lessening in sound quality and Mint is an easy grade to give.

In summary this genuine first press plays to a fantastic standard with no interference.  A FINAL UPGRADE album in every sense the playback is incredible on both sides.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static it sounds like it was purchased only yesterday not 31 years ago!  A STUNNING find and one that would impress any avid collector.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The cover is in near perfect condition with no obvious wear at all.  The top edge has only a couple of tiny 'specks' and the bottom edge is spotless.  The spine is unmarked and is only slightly uneven in a couple of places and all corners are in superb shape with almost zero wear.  The opening edge has no handling wear and both the front and back cover are pristine with no marking.  So close to Mint- I will say Near Mint - a stunning example.

The glossy inner sleeve is in perfect condition with no side splits, marking or creasing.

The record has been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
