BOB DYLAN: The Times They Are A-Changin’ Mobile Fidelity Half-Speed Remastered LP; MFSL Catalog # 1-114
PRICE REDUCED May 26, 2024!!
Condition: Vinyl Mint (I probably played this all of once, after I bought it); Packaging Near Mint. Jacket would be Mint if it didn’t show the slightest signs of shelf wear; I grade my stuff “conservatively.” Includes original insert promoting other MFSL releases and soft poly sleeve for LP.
Behind the Music: Most any poll asking “What is the Greatest Rock Song of All Time?” gets answered “Bob Dylan’s ‘Like a Rolling Stone.’” All well and good, but I argue that this album contains Bob’s Greatest Song, Period. I refer to “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll.” A vintage tale, based on a real murder trial, of how the very rich and privileged can skate away from the consequences of their actions. Sound familiar? In my opinion, had this been released as an EP containing only four songs—the one just mentioned plus “With God on Our Side,” “Only a Pawn in Their Game” and the title selection—it would still rate as one of the most important Pop Music releases of all time. Timeless, indeed, is the appropriate description of this material. This concludes today’s lecture.
