Description
INSANELY RARE WITHDRAWN, FIRST STEREO PRESSING WITH THE SONG “BABY, DON’T SCOLD ME” INSTEAD OF A SUBSEQUENT HIT SINGLE “FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH”.
· NOTE: ATCO used TWO (2) different catalog numbers for this album: the first number is SD-33-200, which is found only on original, withdrawn version with “Baby don’t scold me” ; the second number SD-33-200-A was used on the more common version with “For what it’s worth” instead of “Baby don’t scold me” What we have here is the very first catalog number: SD-33-200.
· MONSTROUSLY RARE STEREO PRESSING, MANY TIMES RARER THAN MONO
· GUARANTEED ORIGINAL 2-TONE (TAN AND PURPLE) ATCO STEREO LABEL.
STEREO VERSION OF THE WITHDRAWN SONG (“BABY DON’T SCOLD ME”) HAS NEVER BEEN AVAILABLE ON LEGITIMATE COMPACT DISC OR IN ANY OTHER WAY, MANNER OR FORMAT; THE RECENT RHINO/WARNER REISSUE CONTAINS ONLY THE MONO VERSION OF THE SONG. WE BELIEVE THAT ORIGINAL MULTI-TRACK SOURCE (MASTER TAPE) OF THIS SONG NO LONGER EXISTS AND WAS (PROBABLY) DESTROYED IN THE FIRE WHICH DESTROYED ATLANTIC’S MID-MANHATTAN STUDIOS IN THE EARLY 1970’s.
The band themselves were displeased with this record, feeling that the production did not capture their on-stage energy and excitement. Yet to most ears, this debut sounds pretty great, featuring some of their most melodic and accomplished songwriting and harmonies, delivered with a hard-rocking punch. "For What It's Worth" was the hit single, but there are several other equally stunning treasures. Stephen Stills' "Go and Say Goodbye" was a pioneering country-rock fusion; his "Sit Down I Think I Love You" was the band at their poppiest and most early Beatlesque; and his "Everybody's Wrong" and "Pay the Price" were tough rockers. Although Neil Young has only two lead vocals on the record (Richie Furay sang three other Young compositions), he's already a songwriter of great talent and enigmatic lyricism, particularly on "Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing," "Out of My Mind," and "Flying on the Ground Is Wrong." The entire album bursts with thrilling guitar and vocal interplay, with a bright exuberance that would tone down considerably by their second record.

Your LP record will be placed in a brand new Japanese inner sleeve and then placed in a Japanese SUPER clear outer sleeve. Both these sleeves are the best that there are on the market. I package your LP in a made-for-records cardboard mailer box. Depending on the fragility of the specific vinyl record, your box may include extra cardboard stiffeners to help protect the record. Your record is insured against loss or breakage. NOTE: box sets and two record sets are NOT placed in a SUPER clear outer sleeve. They simply do not fit.
If you wish to return a record from any other country other than the USA, please do not expect me to reimburse postage. I ask no questions about why you are returning the record, just do not expect to get postage back. I do appreciate my thousands of satisfied overseas customers.
I package all my LPs OUTSIDE of their covers (to prevent further seam splits) during shipping.
