Description

Beatles 1966 Stereo Yesterday and Today meant for disposed of Butcher Cover NM.

This is a TRUNK COVER NOT A BUTCHER COVER !

I’m referring to the inner sleeve and vinyl record being the pressing that would have gone into THE FIRST PRESSING , ALBEIT BUTCHER COVER .

Yes it is in SHRINK with air holes. Shrink just opened on right side of cover to take record out . NOT PLAYED .

Go to picture 11 please.

Notice that is a THIRD state STERO Butcher Cover with the B 14 matrices on the actual RECORD. I’m using that as it clearly shows B 14 as being the matrix after the catalog number.

If I haven’t made clear this RECORD in this particular TRUNK COVER was one that had the record that would have gone into a STEREO BUTCHER COVER . If you don’t know about matrices being important, it’s a moot point. If someone has a STEREO BUTCHER COVER this is the record that would have gone in it !

The Actual FIRST state STEREO Cover is identical to the third state pressing , the difference is in the cover not the first pressing records.

This is the only Los Angeles Stereo Butcher Cover I could find with identifier’s. I’m sure there are others, but for the first day release they should be the same .

I’m obviously hoping someone with a first, second,or third state stereo Butcher with the wrong record of a record that is not in great condition sees this ad.

I’m so sorry for making this confusing. This is a June 20, 1966 Trunk Cover that has a first pressing Butcher Cover Stereo Vinyl Album ,and Inner Sleeve .

I need to make something clear. It is very easy for a seller to put shrink wrap on a cover . If I was dishonest I could have done it with this record.

I can almost ensure you that half the Butcher covers don’t have the correct record. This is why matrix numbers are so important.

I’ve sold over 1600 Beatles albums on eBay. 95% of them UK first or second pressing , along with a few French, and Italian first pressing Beatles. This is why matrices - plural of matrix “ numbers are so important. Look at a UK Beatles album first pressings. You’ll always see the matrix numbers . When you know the matrix, you know when the record was pressed. On the second ,and third pressings of Yesterday and Today it’s a reasonable assumption that some have second pressing records .

The difference being first pressing sound better, they’re the earliest pressed off of mothers ,and stampers. It gets beyond confusing when dealing with Beatles albums. There can be several first day pressings with different mothers, and stampers. People assume each stamper pressed 500 to 1000 vinyl records . But the catalog number on UK Beatles is followed directly by the matrices ,so you know exactly which pressing it is. Them at 9:00 on labels it is the mother, and 3:00 the stampers .

That tells you to a degree how long the stampers have been used.

There is a different mindset in Europe and the UK than in the USA .

This is why I make the valid point that this record is a FIRST DAY June 20,1966 pressing. This record is what would have gone into a Butcher Cover had they not been destroyed .

If you’re a serious collector, and seller you should know this if you care about the quality of the sound.

I’m totally aware people buy this album for the cover, and care little about the album. But if you actually play the album, you may as well buy a reissue for peanuts to listen to. Stereo was not the norm in 1966 ,most of the later reissues are in stereo. But if you want what should be the best sounding stereo Capitol record the first pressings should be the best.

Then again Capitol messed up the Beatles albums to a degree that no other country would release an album with compression,EQ,reverb ,and limiting from the master tapes. As I’ve not played this record I can’t attest to how well it sounds.

It all gets down to the integrity of the covers, inner sleeve ,and vinyl record all being in accord with one another. Yes , I know records are not really made from vinyl …

Hope that lends some credence to the price. A MONO butcher cover in THE condition of the one I’m selling here just sold yesterday for $1400. Why ? Because it was still in the shrink wrap. It wasn’t a Butcher Cover, and it was MONO . Look it up.

Had I spent $5.00 I could have this STEREO in shrink ,and possibly sold for $2000.

Go to DISCOGS look under first, second or third state BUTCHER COVER .

Los Angeles pressing . ST 2553 1 B 14 side one and ST 2553 2 B 14 side two. Don’t confuse Scranton matrices with Los Angeles .

You’ll see the matrices are ST 2553 B 14 on both sides of Los Angeles pressing.

This is all about the record being one that would go into a stereo Butcher Cover which is rare in that they pressed 10 mono albums for each one stereo album. Depends on who you read. Some say 5 to 1 ratio.

The record appears unplayed , I would bet my life on it. On side two you see a bit of white paper at spindle hole, that’s common as they pressed going through one side ,and out the other for the spindles.

There is no signs of play on vinyl either.

The cover looks like it did the day it came out on June 20,1966 This album was in Capitol warehouse in L.A. while Butcher Covers were being destroyed. The opening where record goes into cover shows NO WEAR or browning . No seam splits.

RIAA # 6 on this back cover. It should be #5 .

In Los Angeles RIAA 5 is Stereo and 6 is Mono.

This is STEREO .

There were only 25 vinyl records ,and inner sleeves in each box at Capital.

The matrices on this vinyl

ST - 1 - 2553- B 14

ST - 2 - 2553 - B 14

Rainbow labels with no subsidiary on labels.

Inner sleeve Capitol 66 artists .

Cover still in shrink, just opened to remove record as far as I can tell.

The pictures have not been doctored.

White of cover is that white and clean as seen in pix.

No seam splits .

Looks like new.

Shrink in tact only opened at mouth to get record out.

Everything looks like new.

There is a minor crease in inner sleeve from taking in and out of cover.

Record will be #hipped in poly lined inner sleeve outside of cover.

Cover, and record will be very well protected.

I’ll keep shipping rates down .

USA $3.50

Rest of world - $20.00

no China - Russia - Middle East - I’m sorry about that .
