ORIGINAL Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band metal base ACETATES!

On offer here are some supremely rare Sgt Peppers Acetates. One of a kind, you will not find anywhere else!

They are the pride of my collection.

These acetates were originally owned by Joey Spampinato (of NRBQ fame) where, looking at interviews with him in 2000, seemed to have been influenced by the acetate....Who wasn't?! He owned these records and was close friends with Paul McCartney (see picture).

Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band wasn't going to be a Sgt Peppers project untill the first song, by Paul, was first recorded. Following that, Paul realised he could pretend that the Beatles were Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band, with the rest of the songs on the Lp forming a show by the fictitious band. This was at the beginning of February 1967.

Acetates of the recording in the studio over the next 4 months were taken home by the members of the Beatles to listen to, than refine when back in the studio...This one was intended for radio broadcast, I have been told be a 3rd party, who spoke to Joey Spampinato.

The raw beauty of this project is a joy to listen to.

I cannot stress the rarity of these Acetates, they will certainly be the focus of anybody's collection.

*Notice the spelling mistake on the listing of the Acetate...omits "With" & "Help" also "Gettin Better" leaves off the "g" *

Also notice "Being for the Benifit of Mr.Kite" is on side two, rather than the finished Sgt. Pepper, where it is at the end of side 1.

The 33.3rpm speed, when directly compared to the finished and commercially available Sgt peppers Lp appears to have a slower tempo.

Side 1 has a few skips on track 1 and 2, which is not unusual as these acetates were and still are, so very fragile. However, saying that, the record plays all the way through, without a problem, until the end of "She's leaving home" where the needle gets stuck. This is rectified by a heavier stylus, but of course heavier stylus means more wear on the fragile vinyl coating.

Side 2 plays beautifuly, NO SKIPS OR JUMPS AT ALL with some slight crackle, to be expected with an acetate.

I am including the box with Joey Spampinato's address, where they were sent to (by whom I have no idea) years ago. I do not want to include this image as it has his address on the front.

A Day in the Life/Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) ACETATE!

Following four months of making the Sgt Pepper album, the end was coming near (as Paul had to fly off to the USA on April the 3rd) as EMI had been promised the mono master tape before the 12th of April. Paul came up with the idea of reprising the title song as the run up to the final song "A Day In The Life" (as this song was almost impossible to follow). The Reprise was recorded in one 7pm-6am session at Abbey Road studios.....

This 45 Rpm Acetate looks as gorgeous as it plays!! ABSOLUTELY NO SKIPPING OR JUMPING! Just the raw talent of Beatles.

I would like to thank NJDAVER who has been very helpful in the validification of the Acetates. As a note this is a mail he sent me regarding the NRBQ circle:

FYI: I saw Joey the other night when Kami played in Orleans and
asked him about this. He said it had belonged to him, and he
was pretty sure it had been some sort of promo thing for radio
stations. Also, he said that the two records originally came
together in the one sleeve.
