Beatles Yesterday And Today, second state butcher cover

Capitol 2553, Mono. ***in original shrink wrap*** This is a paste-over second state copy, with Ringo’s black V-neck sweater clearly showing through the middle right side of the steamer trunk slick.

Please note: what appears to be a stain in the upper right corner is ONLY ON THE SHRINK WRAP -- it is NOT a stain on the cover itself. In fact, it is not a stain at all -- rather it is the remains of the original price tag. It reads “discount price $3.19.” (Those were the days!)

The cover is in terrific shape. Because this has been stored for decades in it’s original shrink wrap, there are no seam splits whatsoever. There is light yellowing on the right edge (to be expected after 40 years,) but if anyone wants to take on the task of peeling it, they will doubtlessly end up with a stellar butcher cover.

Cover has no saw marks, no BB holes, no cut corners. If you are a peeler (or intend to have it professionally peeled,) this is perfection! The sleeve is a no 6 (on the reverse) which is believed to be from the Los Angeles plant.

The disc is likewise in excellent-plus condition. Visually there are a few very light handling scuffs, but they do not affect play much. Side 1 sounds nearly perfect; side 2 is slightly noisier with a few audible ticks, but still very nice. The disc has all it’s original gloss. Labels are clean with no writing, but there is a touch of spindle wear. The inner sleeve is an old, all white, period sleeve with no Capitol records advertising on it.
