This wonderful sounding UK 1st STEREO pressing of their fourth studio album dates from initial December 1964 release.
It is on the standard 'Sold in UK...' black & yellow Parlophone stereo label: PCS 3062
The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrices: YEX 142-1 & YEX 143-1
Stamper codes: 2/GG & 5/GR
Vinyl weight: 153g
Housed in an exquisite outer-laminated, inner-flipover stereo gatefold cover.
Complete with its original rice-paper lined 'Use Emitex...' inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Labels: EXCELLENT +
A fine looking set with a moderate amount of spindle trails around each centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Both playing surfaces are clean with just some light surface wear caused mainly by inner-sleeve storage, along with a single light surface mark on side 1. Closer inspection directly beneath halogen light reveals no further blemishes or wear to this otherwise very well looked-after disc.
Audio: EXCELLENT +
Easily the finest sounding of their early stereo albums, this 1st-class sounding disc retains all of its warm & clarity throughout with no clicks, pops or groove/playwear. Our play-check did detect a little low-level vinyl background in the usual places i.e. 'I'll Follow the Sun' & 'Mr Moonlight', but no clicks, pops or any other issues or distractions. A very enjoyable listen.
Cover: EXCELLENT +
The chances of this fragile cover surviving in this condition are very low indeed, but this beautifully preserved example is one of the best we've seen for a while. The delicate front leaf is perfectly clean & uncreased with the only sign of wear being a little shelfwear to the vulnerable lower right corner. All of the exposed edges are undamaged and the corners are free from any bumps or bruising. Both panels in side are clean & black where they should be with no yellowing to the white areas. The rear panel is a clean as the front with just a couple of tiny wrinkles along the lower edge but no disc impression/wear. The delicate spine hinge is fully intact along its length, with well defined 'pinches' each end. The spine is clean, white & uncrushed with perfect lettering. not many left like this.
