Record #1:

• “HAPPY XMAS (War Is Over)” by John Lennon & Yoko Ono b/w “LISTEN, THE SNOW IS FALLING” by Yoko Ono & the Plastic Ono Band

• This is APPLE RECORDS 1842.

• It was issued in December, 1971.

• It is pressed on GREEN VINYL.

• This version has the FULL (UN-SLICED) & SLICED APPLE LABELS.

• The VINYL is in NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION with just a few very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs. It is a Winchester pressing.

• The record comes with an ORIGINAL APPLE RECORDS STOCK SLEEVE that is in STRONG VG to WEAK VG+ CONDITION overall with light to moderate signs of handling. It has NO splits, NO tears and NO writing. It is an EAST COAST Apple sleeve with a straight-cut at the top opening with the small “flap” (the small portion of the sleeve at the top opening where one side is taller than the other side.) This Apple sleeve, issued 1968 to 1974, is the CORRECT APPLE SLEEVE for this 1971 vinyl pressing.

• This is APPLE RECORDS 1842.

• This record was issued December 1, 1971.

• It is pressed on GREEN VINYL.

• This version has the APPLE “CUSTOM FACES” or “MORPHING FACES” LABELS.

• This label version is much more difficult to find compared to the other green vinyl Apple pressing. In fact, the ratio is about 1 to 4 when comparing the “FACES” label version to the much more common green Apple sliced/un-sliced labels, according to Perry Cox.

• The VINYL is in NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) CONDITION with just a few very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs. It is a Winchester pressing.

• This record comes with its ORIGINAL PICTURE SLEEVE which is in VG CONDITION. The sleeve shows has overall moderate signs of handling including the following: light partial ring wear on both sides; a 1¼ -inch split on one edge, a ½ -inch split on the other edge and a ¾ -inch split on the bottom edge; a very small irregular-shaped ink stain just below the Apple Records logo at the bottom of the A-side of the sleeve; a number of light bends/folds/creases at the top opening of the sleeve and some light aging/foxing. This picture sleeve was issued for both the Apple sliced/unsliced labels issue and the Apple “faces” labels issue.

I believe that these are the ONLY ORIGINAL U.S. APPLE 45 RPM RECORDS ISSUED ON COLORED VINYL.

Record #3:

• “HAPPY XMAS (War Is Over)” by John Lennon & Yoko Ono b/w “LISTEN, THE SNOW IS FALLING” by Yoko Ono & the Plastic Ono Ban

• This is CAPITOL RECORDS Cema S7-17644.

• This record was issued in 1994.

• It is pressed on GREEN VINYL.

• This Capitol Records issue has “FOR JUKEBOXES ONLY” printed on the labels.

• The VINYL is in NEAR MINT CONDITION.

• It comes in a Capitol Records stock sleeve, in NEAR MINT CONDITION, with a white logo with gray background and white lines. I believe this may the correct Capitol stock sleeve for this record.

Record #4:

• “HAPPY XMAS (War Is Over)” by John Lennon & Yoko Ono b/w “BEAUTIFUL BOY” by Yoko Ono & the Plastic Ono Band

• This is GEFFEN RECORDS 7-29885.

• It was issued November 11, 1982.

• It is pressed on BLACK VINYL.

• Geffen Records changed the B-Side from Yoko Ono’s “Listen, The Snow Is Falling” to John Lennon’s “Beautiful Boy”. This was probably done to have both the A-side and the B-side be John Lennon compositions taken from “THE JOHN LENNON COLLECTION” LP.

• The VINYL is in NEAR MINT CONDITION.

• This record comes with its ORIGINAL PICTURE SLEEVE which is in VG+ CONDITION. Only a small ink mark beside the “N” in “JOHN” on the right edge of the A-side of the sleeve and some very light bends/folds on the flap at the top opening keep me from grading this sleeve Near Mint.) It is a FLAT SLEEVE with NO splits, NO tears, NO ring wear, and NO creases.

• The printing on the B-side of the sleeve pictures “THE JOHN LENNON COLLECTION” LP cover and cassette and states that this single is:

  “From the Geffen Records album THE JOHN LENNON COLLECTION (GHSP 2023) and Cassette (L5 2023)”

A NICE GROUPING of “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” PRESSINGS all together in one auction for someone’s vinyl collection!
