READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles John Lennon Yoko Ono 1988 LP Double Fantasy IMPOSSIBLE Purple Capitol, EX!

Collectors know that these weren’t around for very long in 1988, because that’s the year that the vinyl format gave way to the CD format. That was until the industry brought vinyl back with those awful 180g discs that pressed digital signals into vinyl.

These purple labels had the smaller Capitol dome, along with changing the “Mfd. By Capitol” to the fully spelled-out “Manufactured by Capitol.”  There were just not enough of these to go around, so that serious collectors could get one into their collections.

If you were one of the collectors who missed yours, here’s your keeper.

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Both sides shine 100% brand new.  However, there are a few light lines that are pressed below the grooves, so that you see them tilted toward a light source, and they vanish at the slightest tilt.

Side 2 has one light, short scratch that’s non-feelable through “Yes, I’m Your Angel.”

Plates--- F1/F1.  Both sides have the Specialty logo, as well as the machine-stamped “Mastered by Capitol.”  Our mastering friend “Wally” has his signature in the dead wax on both sides.

Cover--- VG+.  Capitol darkened the cover, and then added a ridiculous amount of high gloss, which made the cover susceptible to chipping.  There are two small chips in Yoko’s scalp.  There are also about half a dozen light to moderate crease to the front and back cover.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Both labels are very close to store stock brand new condition.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG++.  Sleeve also has high gloss.  Has all Capitol markings.  Hardly any yellowing if at all.  Both sides have light wrinkles and a few finger divots, but that’s all.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
