READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles LP Meet the Beatles STEREO 3 BMI Side 1 A1 Plate Stunning Gorgeous NM!
People who buy records from me know that I’m very strict about grading a record NM. I’ve had many people write to me to say that my EX grade is their NM grade. If a record looks absolutely brand new and shiny, but it has one angel hairline that shows up, it isn’t NM. Why? Because that angel hair wasn’t there when it left the factory (or the “mint”).
My eyesight may be failing, but I can’t find even one angel hair on either side of this copy!
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Vinyl looks nearly flawless.
Plates--- A1/W3. Very cool that Side 1 was pressed with the first-day issue plate! Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.
Cover--- EX. This is a first pressing cover, and it’s in splendid condition. First pressing covers feature the following:
1. The front slick has a cream-colored background. Edges are white. Later printings were changed to white on white.
2. “Meet the” is in blue, “BEATLES” is in brown.
3. No George Martin producer credits at the bottom left corner.
4. Circle around the Capitol dome logo and the words, “High Fidelity” are in blue. Later issues were reprinted in white.
The only condition issues are that the mouth on the back has yellowed just a little bit. Very light ringwear to the bottoms on both front and back covers. Bottom left corner has a small push-in.
NO SEAM SPLITS. Not even almost.
Labels--- EX/EX. Labels are beautiful and glossy, with just a couple of very light spindle marks per side.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG+. Cobalt Blue Capitol custom inner sleeve from 1964 is present. Presents a beautiful EX. However; there’s a small one-inch side seam split on just one side. Otherwise, this would have been graded an Excellent inner sleeve.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 3
Plan ahead. This copy is going to make your Beatles collector twitch and shout when they pull it out from under the tree this Christmas.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
