READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX.  They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label.  I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.

The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split.  Here’s one that’s a great, solid play copy.

Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper 1969 Subsidiary of W9 Plate, Wrong “Good Morning,” VG+!

Most collectors are aware of the extremely difficult-to-find pressing of the defective W9 Side 2 plate, which affected the track, “Good Morning, Good Morning.”  After just a few seconds, the right channel drops completely out, leaving only a ghost of the horns and McCartney’s vocals.  It also eliminates half the animal sound effects at the end.

What’s fascinating though, is that John’s vocals, the drums and bass are all that’s left in the left channel.  It means that you get a sparkling clear performance of Ringo’s drum performance and McCartney’s on bass, which in parts, get buried in the original stereo mix.  And you also get Lennon’s bare naked vocal.  The track returns to normal just before the Sgt. Pepper Reprise.

Vinyl--- VG+/VG+.  Both sides still shine about 90% new.  Just some very light lines per side.

Plates--- W7/W9.  Letter “O” in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.

Cover--- VG++.  Just a half-shade from an Excellent cover.  Bottom seam has just a little shelfwear.  Back cover has just a tad of light wear at the very top.  Another seller could use the grade Excellent, and you wouldn’t argue.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

Gatefold--- EX.  Inside gatefold looks bold and colorful, almost new.  NO CENTER SEAM SPLITS.

Insert--- VG+.  The only real issue is that the white back has moderately yellowed.  VERY light record outdent at the top left.  Full, bold color.  NO FINGER DIVOTS.

Labels--- VG+/NM.  And the only reason that the Side 1 label gets knocked down by two grades is because of a fleck of missing label at the bottom.  See photo.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG.  Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Sleeve presents EX.  But one side seam has a 3-inch split.  Some wrinkles from improper insertion at the factory.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A.

Sneak a look at your Beatles collector’s copies of Sgt. Pepper.  Look specifically for the Jacksonville pressing with these large letters on the labels, the letter “O” in the dead wax, and specifically the W9 plate on Side 2.  If it isn’t in their collection, you’ve just found a very nice scarcity for this Christmas that they’ve likely been hunting for, for a very long time.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
