READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX.  They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label.  I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.

The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split.  Here’s one that’s a great, solid play copy and/or your keeper.

Some collectors know that when this variation from 1968 first went into production, the plates were refreshed with A or B plates, and that the labels also reverted to the 1963 color scheme of darker cobalt blue Capitol domes at the top, and cobalt blue text in the bottom perimeter.

Well, that didn’t last long, did it?  Shortly after, the domes went back to being silver, and the bottom perimeter went back to being pale bluish white.  This run remained that way throughout 1969.

This is one of the harder-to-find cobalt blue pressings with REALLY nice condition vinyl!

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Both sides shine 95% brand new, with just one or maybe two very light, small flaws per side.

Plates--- B6/B4.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.  These refreshed plates have a reputation for sounding smooth and bright.

Cover--- VG-. Front cover has moderate to heavy ringwear.  Both sides are moderately yellowed.  Top seam has a 3-inch split.  Both top and bottom seams have shelfwear.  Initials written small on the top right corner and on the spine.

This is going to be a very tough cover to replace. 

Early 1968 covers have two distinct features.  Firstly, the RIAA is still number 3, which is a first pressing Scranton RIAA.  But secondly, number 3 covers in 1968 were issued for a VERY short time with the Gold Record Award emblem on the front cover.  Later 1968 covers were changed from 3 to 12 or 16 for Scranton.

Labels--- EX/EX.  Both labels look great, except for some manufacturer’s lines per side.  Capitol dome and perimeter text are very dark blue.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG++. Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Its only issue is that it has moderately yellowed.  Light wrinkles on both sides.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 3

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
