Description
I am beginning to put up for auction some duplicate Beatles’ Capitol Record Club LPs from my collection , so please check my other current auctions and upcoming auctions for more Beatles’ Capitol Record Club LPs.
In this auction:
· “MEET THE BEATLES” by The Beatles
· This LP was issued by Capitol Records.
· But this pressing is SPECIAL! This is the RARE CAPITOL RECORD CLUB PRESSING of this title.
· It was issued 1969 to 1971.
· This Record Club pressing has the GREEN Capitol label with the printing “Manufactured under license”.
· This CAPITOL RECORD CLUB PRESSING has its own special catalog number an “8” preceding the original LP catalog number. This LP’s catalog number is ST 8 – 2047.
· The Beatles’ CAPITOL RECORD CLUB PRESSINGS have become VERY SOUGHT AFTER for their RARITY due to the very limited quantities pressed. You had to be a member of the record club to originally buy and have this LP shipped to you!! You could not walk into a record store from 1969 to 1971 and purchase this Record Club Pressing off the rack!
· And this Record Club vinyl also comes with its CUSTOM RECORD CLUB COVER!! The COVER in this auction has ST 8-2047 printed on the rear cover at top right and on the lower portion of the spine. The 3 black “hash-marks” on the top left seam also identify this as a Record Club cover.
· The COVER is graded VG+ CONDITION. It is still in its Original Shrink Wrap which has protected the cover quite well, but there is some age discoloration on the white rear cover near the opening and what appears to be some age-spotting on the rear cover under the Beatles’ photo. The top right corner has a very tiny corner push. The shrink wrap has an approximately 10-inch diagonal spit on the rear. The shrink wrap has “breathe holes. This is a # 16 (Jacksonville Pressing Plant) cover.
· The VINYL is also NICE VG+. There are just a few slight surface hairlines/scuffs.
· If you are missing this one from your vinyl collection, here’s a nice copy for you to add if you’re the high bidder.
Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels for some of the information about this record.
