Labels: EXCELLENT
A respectable pair which retain all of their delicate gold print with no missing or faded lettering. There are a few light scratches on the side 2 label and slight wear around each centre hole but the images tell the full story.
Visual: VERY GOOD -
Both playing surfaces are clean and retain a fine deep-gloss shine with no dulling of clouded areas. Strong daylight reveals several light surface marks and scratches of which a few are 'feelable' beneath my fingertips. The most significant of these occur on side 1: a diagonal hairline which crosses tracks 5 & 6 and a smaller 1cm one track 3. Side 2 bears around the same amount of light surface marks but none which can be felt. Closer examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp shows up many light marks and hairlines consistent with frequent play but both sides of this early copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: VERY GOOD
Despite having been played many times, there is no major deterioration to the sound quality or indeed any major faults throughout. My single careful play-check at volume detected no significant signs of groove/playwear distortion on side 1, just some light background on 'Anna', a few moderate clicks as 'Chains' faded. There are also a few repeating clicks in the bands between tracks 3 & 4 and 6 & 7. Some light background is present on some of side 2's quieter moments and there is some mild groove/play wear on the final three tracks. Despite these minor faults, it is still extremely enjoyable and its value will only increase over time.
Cover: VERY GOOD
A respectable example of this fragile early cover which is clean & strong overall with light to moderate handling & storagewear and no major faults.
The front panel is clean & bright with an unfaded and unscratched high-gloss laminate bearing just some mild bends but no significant or major damage. There is wear to each corner, most notably to the lower two but the opening edges show light wear only without any tears or feathering. The exposed rear panel is clean & white and free from any noticeable blemishes or wear. There is some wear to the lower flipback and a small missing piece of paper in the lower right corner.
Both seams are unsplit and the spine wording is as you see above.
Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD +
Clean & flat with some light storage wrinkles but no writing, seam splits or tears.
