THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
UK 1963 1st PRESS *BLACK & GOLD* LABEL MONO LP
** HIGH GRADE INVESTMENT COPY**
Purchased by the original owner on the day or release, this fine 1963 mono 1st pressing is on the UK black & gold Parlophone label: PMC 1202
Both labels bear the initial but incorrect 'Dick James Mus.' publishing credits for songs 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2.
A faint 'MT' tax/price code is visible on the side 2 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 1/L & 1/O
Disc weight: 165g
Housed in a correct, early front laminated, tri-flipback 'E.J. Day' printed mono cover
The 'Angus McBean' credit is positioned in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner-sleeve
This copy comes complete with an extremely rare & original plastic cover from Brian Epstein's NEMS, record store in Liverpool.
CONDITION DiscLabels: EXCELLENT PLUS
A outstading set with no spindle marks, touch-up, writing or missing paper.
(The tiny mark at the edge of the side 2 label in the 9 o'clock position is a speck of gold ink and not missing paper)
Visual: EXCELLENT PLUS
This extremely well-looked after & rarely played copy retains all its deep gloss shine on both surfaces without any groove-whitening from overplay.
Both sides are pristine, unmarked when viewed in strong daylight with no fingernail scuffs, surface marks or any cloudy or dull patches.
Close inspection directly beneath a halogen desk lamp reveals and a few light stylus and wispy inner-sleeve removal hairlines but no major marks or wear.
Pressed on very thick vinyl which lies 100% flat on both sides with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: Side 1: EXCELLENT Side 2: EXCELLENT PLUS
This disc has just received just some infrequent careful play on good quality equipment and no groovewear is present on any track.
Every track plays with such power and clarity and even the easily and frequently damaged inner tracks on each side play without any break-up or wear.
The only fault my careful listening review at volume revealed was a few light background ticks during 'Anna' and an occaisional faint one between some tracks.
Otherwise the entire LP plays without fault or wear and represents an excellent investment opportunity.
Cover: EXCELLENT
An extremely respectable example with a clean & glossy front panel with no laminate damage, creasing, 'thumbnails' or any other significant signs of wear.
Apart from a little shelfwear to the lower corner extremeties, all are in great shape with no bumps or splits.
Both the front and rear opening edge are clean & sharp with no indentations, tears or 'feathering'.
The rear is bright & white with just a 1cm pen mark just above the lower flipback and a few faint ink smudges to the right of the side 1 tracklist.
However there is no discolouration or missing paper and all the delicate flipbacks are clean and undamaged.
Both seams unworn and smooth with no flaking or missing laminate.
The spine is clean, fully worded and undamaged.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT PLUS
Clean and flat with no splits or tears.
