Description
Beatles Please Please Me Yellow and Black Parlophone PMC 1202 Mono lp
Matrix Nos: XEX 421 1N and XEX 422 1N
The cover is graded excellent. It is the correct EJ Day pressing with the Angus McBean photo credit a short distance from the edge - unlike Black and Gold pressings. It also has a large Mono on the front. This cover is one of the best I have seen. It has light wear to the bottom right corner on the front and some light wear to the lower back flip at both corners (see photos). There are a couple of very light creases to the spine, otherwise the sleeve is perfect. It is very white and the opening is crisp and free from feathering creasing etc.
The lp is simply stunning. It is graded Near Mint. There are no marks, scratches except for the faintest hint of sleeve lines under very bright light. These are very difficult to see and make no difference to the sound which is outstanding throughout. I have played the lp to grade it but I suspect that it hasn't had many - if any - plays before that. There are of course no clicks, pops sticks or jumps, no distortion and no appreciable crackle even between tracks.
The labels are near mint. there are no marks writing stickers etc. There are literally a couple of spindle marks: again, difficult to see. The labels indicated a fourth pressing from 1963 as it has the "Recording first published in 1963" credit but not the "Sold subject to....." text that was introduced in 1964.
It comes with the correct poly lined inner advertising EMITEX (whatever that is). Later copies had an inner lined with see through paper. Only early copies were lined with polythene as this is. The condition is excellent with just the lightest of creasing.
Ok, it doesn't have the Black and Gold label, but I guarantee you will not find a better copy of this lp. Most copies were trashed at teenaged parties. This doesn't look like it has ever seen a turntable except for the play grading.
Very low start and free UK P&P.
