THE BEATLES - 'RUBBER SOUL'
1966 UK *MONO* PRESSING LP
This EXCELLENT example is a UK 2nd MONO pressing dating from 1966 and is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1267
Both labels bear a prominent 'ridge' approximately 1cm in from their perimeter, uncommon to regular EMI pressings.
They also carry the familiar 'Sold in UK..' text & 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.
An 'MT' purchase tax code is visible around the centre of the side 2 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 579-4 & XEX 580-4
Stamper codes: 7/GOH & 4,3/GML
Vinyl weight: 148g
Housed in front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover.
Complete with its 'Use Emitex..' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Labels: EXCELLENT +
A superb unworn and unblemished pair which bear just a handful of light spindle trails around the side 2 centre hole only.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both playing surfaces are clean & bright with just a touch of harmless 'bag-rash' made by inner-sleeve storage. I have down-graded both visually & audibly from and easy EXCELLENT due only to a 6mm scratch at the end of track 6 on side 1, which can be felt beneath the fingertips. However, close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals no further marks or wear of any kind and both sides of this well-looked after copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Play: VERY GOOD +
A warm, clear and dry sound from this superior -4 cut which has received limited, careful play on good quality equipment. Apart from a hint of wear on 'Michelle', my careful playcheck at volume revealed no further traces of any groove or play wear on any other track. The only major blemish is a repeating dull click during the last 40 seconds or so of 'If I Needed Someone' caused to the aforementioned scratch. However, this minor flaw does not spoil what is an extremely enjoyable, well-balanced listening copy.

EXCELLENT
A super clean & strong example from heavy card stock with a rich, clean & high-gloss front panel bearing only a small handful of faint 'thumbnails' but no spine or edge bends. There is a touch of shelfwear to the lower corners and slight wear to the front opening edges but no tears or major damage. The rear panel is extremeley clean and white with just a single faint mark towards the opening edge. Both seams are smooth and unstressed and the spine is clean & undamaged.

EXCELLENT
Crisp & flat with slight age-toning to the paper but no writing, tears or seam splits anywhere.
