THE BEATLES - 'SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
This early 1st UK MONO pressing dates from the album's initial June 1967 release and is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 7027
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1
Stamper codes: 2/RLA & 4/RPG
Vinyl weight: 149g
Housed in a rare, earliest-type 'FOURTH PROOF' fully laminated, 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with a 'regular' width spine.
The words 'FOURTH PROOF' and code 'AR D 11321..' is printed on the flipback on the right panel inside the gatefold.
Complete with its original red & white 'The Fool' designed inner-sleeve & unused cut-out sheet.

Labels: EXCELLENT
A clean & undamaged set with a small number of light spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both sides of this clean looking disc bear several light surface marks and an occasional light scratch in strong daylight, but nothing deep or serious. Close inspection beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveal some wispy paper-type hairlines but no major blemishes or wear. Both sides of this early disc lie 100% flat on the turntable.
Play: VERY GOOD +
This copy has received just some careful play on good equipment and plays without any significant deterioration to the sound quality or any major faults. My single careful play-check at volume detected some light background/playwear on 'She's Leaving Home', but there are no heavy clicks, pop, jumps or any other such audible distractions anywhere on this respectable sounding copy.
Cover: VERY GOOD +
A respectable example of this rare cover variant which retains a clean and unworn high-gloss front panel laminate which bears just a single 'thumbnail' but no other noticeable wear. There is minor bruising to the upper left and lower right corners but no major damage to any or to any other opening edges either. The inside is vivid and vibrant with no missing paper to the flipback edges and all of the important 'Fourth Proof' wording fully intact and undamaged. The rear panel is clean too but with some general storagewear marking but no writing or missing paper. The spine is a little worn but all the text is still present and readable. All seams of both pockets are smooth, unstressed & unsplit.
Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD +
An uncreased example with some toning to the white areas and a small letter/number code written in one corner but no creasing, writing, tears or seam splits.
