Description
THE BEATLES - 'SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
1967 UK 1st *STEREO* PRESSING LP
**NEAR MINT**
This superb UK 1968 STEREO pressing is on the UK black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 7027
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co Ltd...' rims
There is no tax/price code visible on either label.
Housed in a fully laminated 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed stereo gatefold cover with the wider internal flipbacks & regular width spine.
Being a slightly later '1st issue', this copy comes without the red & white inner but with a plain 'Patents Applied for' white inner-sleeve.
This is the way the LP was purchased by the original owner in 1968, nothing has been switched.
It also comes complete with the unused cut-out sheet.
Matrix numbers: YEX 637-1 & YEX 638-1
Stamper numbers: 3/GOT & 4/GOL
Disc weight: 145g
CONDITION Disc Labels: 1. NEAR MINT 2. MINTJust a single small spindle trail to the side 1 label. The side 2 label is pristine & unmarked.
Visual: MINT
Both surfaces of this pristine/'as new' copy are totally unmarked both in daylight AND directly under my halogen desk lamp.
My close & careful inspection revealed absolutley no surface marks, scratches or even any wispy paper hairlines visible anywhere.
Both sides lie 100% flat both sides on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: NEAR MINT
Having received just one or possibly two plays at most on top-class audio equipment, this copy plays and sounds 100% 'as new'.
There is no trace of any audible wear whatsoever from the silent side 1 run-in to the final 'Day In The Life' fade-out and the repeating inner-groove.
I guarantee that you will not find a better sounding or looking copy.
Cover: NEAR MINT
A superb example with a vibrant front panel which retains its mirror-like, unscratched laminate bearing just a single, tiny 'thumbnail', but no other signs of wear.
The upper corners bear just slight bruising but the lower two are clean, square and un-rubbed.
All of the opening edges appear untouched and are totally clean and razor sharp.
The rear panel again has just a single 'thumbnail' but like the front it is in otherwise perfect condition.
The inside is 'as new' and possible never been fully opened, so I have not attempted to do to.
Both inner flipbacks are perfect condition with no bends or missing paper along the edges.
The spine retains a 100% laminate covering with a readable and undamaged text.
All seams are totally unstressed and unsplit.
