“Ticket To Ride” was written primarily by John, with Paul's contributions in dispute. John said that Paul's contribution was limited to "the way Ringo played the drums". Paul said that was an incomplete description, and that "we sat down and wrote it together... give him 60 percent of it... we sat down together and worked on that for a full three-hour songwriting session." This song was also the first Beatles song with Paul on lead guitar. The song features a coda with a different tempo that extends the song's length past three minutes, the first Beatles single ever to do so. John said this double-time section, with the lyric "My baby don't care," was one of his "favorite bits" in the song.

"Yes It Is" was also written by John. The recording features some of the Beatles' most complex and dissonant three-part vocal harmonies. In his 1980 interview with Playboy, John described it as an attempt to rewrite "This Boy" that "didn't quite work". Paul on the other hand described it as "a very fine song of John's", and said he was present when John wrote it. The recording also showcases George's early use of volume pedal guitar.

"Ticket to Ride," backed with “Yes It Is,” was released as a single on April 9, 1965 in the UK, and April 19 in the U.S. The record topped the Billboard  Hot 100 for a week in the U.S. and for three weeks on the UK Singles Chart. The Capitol single's label declared that both songs were from the United Artists release Eight Arms to Hold You. This was the original title of the Beatles' second movie; the title changed to Help! after the single was initially released.

“Ticket To Ride” was the third of six Number One singles in a row in the U.S., a record at the time, along with "I Feel Fine", "Eight Days a Week", "Help!", "Yesterday", and "We Can Work It Out".

This auction is for original Capitol 45 “Ticket To Ride” backed with “Yes It Is”.  The Record is in Very Good+ condition; with clean, unblemished labels with no writing or ring wear. The Picture Sleeve is in Very Good- condition, with no writing, or seam splits, minimal ring wear but a big old 1 ½” tear on the top left of the side with the die cut that was once repaired with tape.
