The original First Press of this Double LP issued in 1968.

In addition here we have

 - the even rarer MONO version.

 - earliest copy of this first press ie
     * first mother stamper, and
     * the text " an emi recording" is missing from the left of the spindle hole, disc 2.

*Original 1st pressing from 1968
* "Sold in UK subject to..." printed on all LP labels (first press).
* Dark green Apple label
* "An emi recording" is not on the disc to the left of the spindle hole. (Disc 2) These were only issued with the very first albums with the lowest numbers, ie probably on the very first day.
* Label number PMC 7067 and PMC 7068 ie MONO
* All sides have the -1 matrix number of the first pressing
* Matrix numbers XEX709-1, 710-1, 711-1, 712-1
* First mother on disc 2.  Mother/stampers are 1RD, 3RR, 3LT and 4GAL
* All tracks on all sides have been played all the way through, and individually rated both visually and for play. (see bottom of page). Play grades are EX++ to VG++

Outer Sleeve
* Original laminated outer sleeve by Garrod and Lofthouse.
* Top-loading  - 1st issue
* Numbered copy, 0171251 stamped on front cover.
* "The Beatles" embossed in the laminate on front cover.
* No writing of any kind on rear of the cover ie mono
* VG+ condition
* Completely intact, with no tears and no writing, internal flapbacks intact and well stuck down.  A few creases in the laminate and a few indentations in the laminate under the embossed The Beatles"
* Nice bold black number

Poster
* Original lyrics poster
* Made by Garrod and Lofthouse, correctly identified as such on the back/bottom right corner.
* Rated as EX-
* Completely intact, no tears, no damage, no writing on front or back, no visible seam wear. One 10" seam invisibly strenthened on the rear with tape.
* Front face has no writing, no pinholes, no markings from tapes or adhesives.

 Black Inner Sleeves
* The black inner sleeves are in EX- condition
* Original 1968 matt black paper inner sleeves, (with the hole diecut on just 1 side.)
* No seam splits.
*  Both sleeves are very similar in condition.  Completely intact, a small 1cm tear in the paper on the centre hole, and some rubbing of the top opening edge where LPs and hands go in and out.
 

LP -Visual and Play
All 4 sides of the LPs have been not only visually examined, but also played on a quality deck and carefully listened to all the way through all tracks on all sides. 

The sound quality of all 4 sides was excellent, no flaws were detected, no jumps, no hops, no sticks or repeats, not even any noticeable ticks or loud background noise ! There were some visual marks as detailed below, but these were found to be superficial and had no effect on the sound track.

Side 1 - visually VG+ no scratches but quite a lot of light surface rubbing.  Play was rated VG++.  There were no hops or jumps or sticks or ticks or clicks, but the light surface rubbing gives some faint background crackle that is detectable in some of the quiet parts between tracks.
Side 2 -visually VG+ no scratches but noticeable light surface rubbing.  Play was EX- with much less background noise between tracks than side 1, only noticeable between the first three tracks.
Side 3 - visually there is one prominent scratch (fingernails ?) across the first three tracks, and a very  few other light markings   VG+.  On play however it was found that this scratch was superficial and was not detectable on the sound track.  Play of the whole side was found to be completely flawless EX++ at least.  In the first three tracks there was heard just one single quiet click, and no other flaws until three light crackles right at the very end of the last track.
Side 4 -  Visually there can be seen in strong light just two very light superficial marks EX.  Play was judged as Excellent +  There were noticed no flaws in the sound of the whole side, except a few odd quiet clicks in the quiet gap after Revolution 1 and into the start of Working Girl.

95 minutes of wonderful MONO sound, The MONO mix, which was done by the Beatles themsleves, has quite a number of small differences from the stereo mix done by the Apple engineers.  Details available on request.
