1969 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP

We have just been commissioned to sell a large and important private collection of UK Beatles records. The majority of listings presented this week are from that collection, with more to follow over the coming weeks. The collection contains some of the rarest UK pressed discs which are unlikely to come onto the open market again in the forseeable future.

This hard to find and well-preserved UK 1st MONO pressing dates from the album's initial release in January 1969 and is on the dark green Apple label: PMC 7070

Stamper codes: 3/L & 1/O

Disc weight: 147g

Housed within an early type front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover without the printer's credit on the lower rear flipback.

Supplied with a non-original matt-back inner-sleeve.

A vivid and vibrant pair with little more than a handful of light spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Superb clean bright & deep-gloss playing surfaces which apart form a light 1.5cm surface scuff on side 2, are totally unmarked in strong daylight. Close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals just a faint trace of inner-sleeve removal on side 2, but no other marks, blemishes or wear at all. Both sides of this 1st-class copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This copy has received just some careful, infrequent play on good equipment and my careful play-check found no evidence of any groove/playwear or indeed any clicks, pops or other such distractions. In fact, apart from a hint of light/normal background during some of the quieter passages during the orchestral suite, there really is very little to fault audio-wise.

EXCELLENT

A superb clean & vibrant example which has retained a high-gloss, unscratched front laminate where the only sign of wear is a single tiny 'thumbnail' wrinkle towards the opening edge. There is a mark on the grey area in the lower left corner but this is a printing error and no wear. All corners are sharp and square with no bumps to any and both opening edges are practically unworn. The rear panel is extremely clean & bright with slight fading to the colour group image but definitely no writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are super clean & fully intact and both the seams and the spine are smooth, unstressed and unsplit.
