This handsome and rare LP from Columbia Masterworks (MS 6135, US pressing, gray 6 eye label – ED1, stereo) features one of the more elusive titles in the great Maurice Gendron’s distinguished discography: his supremely eloquent accounts of Brahms’s Cello Sonata No. 2 in F Major Op. 99 and Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 3 in A Major Op. 69, both recorded with pianist Philippe Entremont on Columbia 30th Street Studio, New York, on 24 February 1959.
