Description
Ben E. King's classic R &B recording of Leiber and Stoller's Stand By Me was initially released by Atco Records in April, 1961 and it charted at #4 on the U.S.Hot 100 and #1 on the U.S. R &B charts that year. After the success of a movie with the same title, it was reissued in1986 (25 years later) and again charted at #9 on the U.S. Hot 100. The song was later voted in as a Song Of The Century by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and has been covered by numerous artists over the years.
