Up for sale is an original 1970 UK Vertigo large-swirl second pressing of Black Sabbath’s legendary self-titled debut album.

This is a very nice example of an increasingly difficult early Sabbath pressing to find complete and in respectable condition, including the original Vertigo swirl inner sleeve.

Vinyl: EX- Visually / Plays EX or Better

The record retains very good original sheen and presents extremely well overall. It lays flat and has clearly been cared for.

There are a few isolated/seldom visible scratches and light marks on each side, which is why I am conservatively grading the vinyl EX- visually rather than a full EX.

Most importantly, I have personally play-tested the record and the sound quality is excellent — EX in my opinion and at times better. It delivers the powerful, dynamic and natural presentation that makes these early UK Vertigo pressings so desirable.

I prefer to grade conservatively and describe anything I can see rather than surprise a buyer after the record arrives. Please review the photographs carefully, as they form part of the condition description.

Gatefold Sleeve: VG+

The original gatefold sleeve presents very nicely for its age. I am grading it VG+ conservatively, although it approaches EX in overall presentation. Please see the photographs for the exact condition.

Original Vertigo Swirl Inner: EX

The original period Vertigo swirl inner sleeve is included and looks wonderful, making this an especially attractive and complete early copy.

This record comes from my personal collection. I have been collecting vinyl for many years, with a particular focus on Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, and early UK/European pressings.

I take grading seriously and would rather describe a record conservatively and have the buyer pleasantly surprised than overgrade it.
