Bob Dylan Planet Waves LP UK 1st Press "CENSORED REAR" ABSOLUTE BEAUT [Ex/Ex]

Description

An original 1st press of PW on the UK Island label. Matrix A1U/B1U - 1st cut. A much underrated album Dylan. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue cover. We also have the original back-sheet which the album was issued with in 1973 in order to censor the writing on the rear. We also have the original generic white inner. So, 100% genuine an 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. A quite frankly beautiful player. Really nice and clean with only minor deviation briefly. The only places where I could pick up a touch of background was during the first half of Dirge & Mama [as is very common]. Nothing intrusive - pretty low in the mix. "Wedding" plays clean as they come with just one tick along with Hazel ....Expect a fantastic rendition - as there's precious little to find fault with.

Cover (Ex) So, how did we find a copy which is still looking this nice and white? Well, it was stored in the original shrink-wrap from '73 and that certainly helps! A title like this is notoriously difficult to find in anywhere near this condition - nearly all copies spoiled. Front and back are as white as they come. The only slightest deviation from perfect is down in the extreme bottom left corner on the front. A minute water stain [see close-up pic]. I have, quite frankly , never seen better looking surfaces. As a result of the shrinkwrap - there's no edge wear at all and the openings are still sharp. The spine is literally 100% perfect. Now, that must be pretty much impossible to find. Not even a whiff ageing. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg) Aged, but no splits.
Back-sheet (Ex) No ageing at all. Truly superb.
