Description

For sale is Bob Dylan's self titled first album, Bob Dylan, originally released in 1962 on Columbia Records as a monophonic record. It has a red label with a white "Columbia" at the top, as well as six CBS logos, three on each side of the center hole around the outside rim of the label, that look like "eyes", and are called "6-Eyed" Columbia records for that reason. In the dead wax between these labels and the last track is machine stamped an upper case "P", followed by the matrix numbers 1-E/1-F, indicating that an early stamper was used to make this record at Columbia Records' pressing plant located in Pitman, New Jersey. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine, then put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve or insert that may have come with the release. There is no original inner sleeve with this release. The cover is graded as VG because of ring wear, edge rubs, corner blunts and some foxing on the back cover close to the jacket's opening. The spine has small tears with paper loss along with color loss at the corners. The vinyl is visually graded between G+ and VG because of sleeve marks and surface scratches, most of which are on Side Two. I'm play grading Side One between VG and VG+ because of low level surface noise, most noticeable between tracks and during the quietest sections of playback. There were no skips or pops and played all the way through without over powering the music. Side Two is play graded between G+ and VG because of a pop on the first song, along with surface noise and occasional rotational "clicking" or "ticking". The surface noise was most noticeable during the quietest sections of playback and not overwhelming the music. It played all the way through. This is a very rare monophonic release with only a thousand or so copies made with the Six-Eye labels and you would be hard pressed to find a copy of this record in any condition. This would make a great addition to a anyone's collection. I have more Folk albums, as well as records of all different genres, in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing.    I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
