BOY'S OWN
Fanzine
The real thing & not a snidey from the late 80's early Acid House/Balearic scene, collected by myself & kept in tip top condition over all these years.
If you know anything about the Balearic/House scene you will have heard of (Junior) Boys Own / Productions (JBO), well this is where the label (& parties) all started from - these fanzines.....
So many classic bits to come out of these fanzines including Acid Teds (Ted Triangle..ha ha), features on 'moody doo's', 'parties' 'club tribes', top nosh & writting on the early Ibiza days, top bands such as Flowered Up, The Farm, charts from the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling, Andrew Weatherall, Rocky & Diesel, the 2 Kev's, Nancy Noise & Terry Farley & many many more & much, much more...
Clubs like Future, Shoom, Trip, Sub Club, Monkey Drum, Land of Oz, Ku, High on Hope, Spice, Amnesia, Paradise Garage, Full Circle, The Ophelia/Yellow Book, Kazoo, + many many more getting mentions, loads of pics from David Swindells as well in these fanzines from parties like the infamous Grinstead doo to Ibiza, lots of great memories even if alot of them where very hazy....
Some history for you.....Boys Own magazine was started in 1987 by Terry Farley, Andy Weatherall, Cymon Eccles and Steve Mayes. They were writing about their obsessions of football, funk and having a good time with your mates. By the spring of 1988 it was “The only fanzine to get right on one matey”.
How did the fanzine "Boys Own" start? In my front room Terry Farley said, "Let's do a fanzine," I said, "I know a printer I'll do this article and you do that" The main reason for it was that Terry had seen the Liverpool fanzine "The End" (a fanzine run by Pete Hooton of The Farm) It was about football bods who were going to clubs. But I didn't go for football, nor did Simon Eccles (another founder of Boys Own) but Steve Mayes (again another founder) and Terry did. We only sold 300 issues and we said "Let's do a party" Again in the right place at the right time, no great scheme.
You are bidding for the fanzine as in the picture (each edition has around 36 pages) which this is one of five that Im selling ''SO PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER ITEMS'' due to funding monies to get a new scooter so I can carry on The Knowledge (its a long story & an even longer time on The Knowledge, though I am on 28's now if you know about these things). Needless to say I never thought I would be ever letting these go, but as 'Kris' once said 'needs must' (truly gutted!!!).
The main picture will be the cover shot & I will add some pics from inside the mag/fanzine on each listing....
Overseas bidders please contact me for postage rates before bidding.
If you liked this scene (& alot of us still do) they will make you smile with out doubt, ''be lucky'' as I'm now sort supposed to say & please bid like there is no tomorrow!
Cheers Fella's (& Ladies)....
P.S. Terry, Cymon, Andy & all the original B's, O gang, please forgive me for selling these & the over use of (brackets)- it is for a skint South London Knowledge boy, who will not be charging the fare if you ever get in my cab in the future -
