Description

Selling-up my large record collection, amassed over 50 years. There are new listings every week. Do have a look at my other items - I may have something that you didn't even know you wanted!
Volume one came out in 1966, and new ones at regular intervals over the next several years, when Tamla Motown had a bunch of further hits to compile. I like these, so if I found a new copy of one of them that I had already, I would compare the copies and keep the better one, so condition of these albums is generally quite good. Some are better than others, details below.
Pictures are my own photos of the items for sale. Photos are part of the description, have a good look.
Vol 1 - stereo
Cover - is front-laminated with 3 flip-backs. Not bad, not great - front has some scallop creases and creasing at all four corners. Creases in from the edges, some wear at the opening. back is intact but shows discolouration from handling.
Record - side one - has a short scratch on the lead-in, into the very start of first track. A short scratch on track 4. Two long light scratches, one running from track 3 to end of the side, and the other from track 4 to end of the side.  Side two - there's a scratch running from track 2 over to track 4. A group of three little marks or scratches, at end of track 7 and beginning of track 8. A group of little scratches on tracks 1 and 2, plus a very light scratch running from track 4 to track 6.
Vol 2 - stereo
Cover - is front-laminated with three flip-backs. Front is quite good, with some scallop creases and light ring-weart - mild creases lower left and lower right. Back has various handwritings and a sticker at top right. Otherwise good.
Record - side one has a scuff with light scratches in it, across tracks 3, 4 and 5. A short scratch on end of track 5 and start of track 5. A long surface mark running from track 3 to track 7. Side two - has a fingernail impression on track 5, and there's a scratch at end of track 2 going into track 3.
Vol 3 - stereo
Cover - cool foiled cover with "moving" design. Laminated front-and-back. Some little marks, and a dent, on front. Shows the shape of the record, slightly. Back has some small damages along the top and bottom edge and at the edge of the opening. Shows the shape of the record, and there's a big crease all the way across, near bottom edge - which may be just a flaw in the lamination.
Record - looks excellent. I can't see any damage on side one. Side two - has a light scratch across the last track, and there's a short light scratch running along the grooves, on the same track.
Vol 5 -
Cover - textured surface. Condition is good, just light wear from normal handling.
Record - side one has a streaky mark on track 5, and a scratch on second half of track 1 and first half of track 2. Last track has a scratch on the second half. Two light scuffs, and some light surface marks. Side two - has a mark / impact on track 1, and a small mark on track 3. A tiny impact on track 6, and two white specks on track 2. Also on track 1, a streaky mark and a scratch. A few other light scratches and marks.
Vol 6 -
Cover - textured, Roger Dean beetle flying craft. Front does show some ring-wear, and a horizontal scrape near top on the right. Some creases at corners. Back is quite good, some ring-wear near top edge, and a scrape near the opening in top half.
Record - side one has a light scratch from track 1 over to track 4. Two surface marks, one on the last track and one on tracks 7 and 8. A light scratch on track 1, and a narrow scuff with light scratches in it, track 4 to track 7. A short streaky mark on track 2. Side two - has a fingernail mark on last track, and a mark / stain, and another tiny mark / flat impact, both on track 4. Two tiny impacts on track 1, and a short scratch on track 2.
Vol 7 -
Cover - is die-cut, with a revolving wheel (yes, like Led Zeppelin III). Good condition, light ring-wear. Wheel works nicely.
Record - looks excellent. I can't see any damage on side two. Side one has two light scratches, both running from track 1 to track 4.

When I'm checking for damage on records, I look at them carefully with my reading glasses on, in good daylight. This method detects any bits of damage that will affect what you hear when listening to it - and lots that are not audible. Using a spotlight or direct sunlight shows more surfacey marks sometimes, but I don't do that - records are for listening to, not trying to see your face in.
Postage at cost within UK - £3.20 plus 50p for a proper record mailer with two stiffener sheets of cardboard (or whatever's appropriate). Happy to do combined postage wherever practical. I'll charge you what it costs me - so anything up to six (or so) LPs would still be the same charge, £3.70. One can send up to 2 kilos for £3.20. For UK buyers - if you buy several items on the same day, and you're looking for combined postage, don't pay, and message me to ask for an invoice that includes combined postage.
Dispatch will usually be "next day", if you pay promptly. My auctions end on Sundays, and I post on Monday afternoon. I only go out to post once a week, during the present pandemic, so if I receive payment after 14.00 Monday, parcel goes into the next Monday's posting.  Collection in person is usually welcome, but not when there are lockdown rules in effect, which forbid it.
I'm happy to send this overseas. See below for details, if bidding from outside UK - YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS STUFF.
I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK - ( I mean it, don't ask) - but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad. Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer. They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer. This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices.
Please be sure that you understand what the postal charges will be, before bidding.
E-Bay UK tells me, they do NOT do combined postage in the Global Shipping Programme. Charges to the customer for delivery and customs charges are whatever you're told they are - if you don't want to pay the postal / courier charges individually for the items, then do not bid.
Overseas customers - please DON'T request an invoice - I can't make one, and it screws-up the e-bay system.
International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, you may have to input your location, if your country is included in the scheme. If your country is not mentioned, please do not bid. International postage to the following countries will be shown (this is the latest list that I've seen - lotta countries!) Antigua and Barbuda, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Australia, United States, Bahrain, Canada, New Zealand, Israel, Hong Kong, Norway, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Korea, South, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Belize, Bermuda, Barbados, Brunei Darussalam, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Egypt, Guernsey, Gibraltar, Guadeloupe, Grenada, French Guiana, Iceland, Jersey, Jordan, Cambodia, Saint Kitts-Nevis, Saint Lucia, Liechtenstein, Sri Lanka, Macau, Monaco, Maldives, Montserrat, Martinique, Oman, Pakistan, Reunion, Turks and Caicos Islands, Aruba, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Chile, Bahamas, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Kuwait, Panama, Qatar, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay
Applicable customs charges will be shown to buyers - E-Bay collects customs duty for the receiving country, wherever import duty is appropriate. If you don't want to pay the customs charges, do not bid. Since "Brexit", customs charges are likely between UK and EU countries.
I don't send to China (because I prefer not to), and I also don't send to Japan, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru, as importation of vinyl records is not permitted in their customs regulations.
