Bud Powell “The Amazing Bud Powell” Vol. 2 10” Blue Note “P” Original Vinyl.
This is the extremely rare 1954, Flat-Rim, Deep Groove, Frame Cover, original 10” edition of Bud Powell’s “The Amazing Bud Powell” on the 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1541. “P” or “ear” in deadwax. Musicians include Powell, George Duvivier, Art Taylor.
VINYL has consistent very low-level pops and ticks. Some tracks are noise free. No Skips. No Distortion. As with all early Blue Note pressings, imperfections do not detract from the beautiful engineering, performance and pressing. Both Side 1 and Side 2 have hairline marks. Very good gloss both sides. Deep Grooved labels are clean. Instruments big, bold, dynamic, full of tone, clean and clear.
FRAME COVER is in excellent condition. Original rare textured cover (see photo). Some aging, no split seams or split spine. Back jacket: minor water stains on all but bottom of jacket. Right lower corner torn revealing foldover.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
