Description

COLLECTOR'S ALERT. Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie "Bird and Diz" 1954 Clef Records MGC-512 mono 10".  Hard to find, historically significant and in wonderful condition.  Original recordings were done in 1949 and 1950, with the first pressing being released by Mercury in 1952, this is the 1954 reissue.  Charley Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Curly Russell and Buddy Rich, supervised by Norman Granz, just killer content.  Sleeve is in nearly perfect condition, only some minor age yellowing and a minor scuff in the lower left corner on the back  (see photos).  Vinyl is also nearly perfect and incredibly quiet, but let me be more detailed about what I'm hearing on playback.  Bloomdido: perfect; Melancholy Baby, a click at the very start, about 20 seconds, I cannot see the cause;  Relaxing with Lee: near perfect;  Passport: near perfect; Leapfrog: tiny scratch visible, I cannot hear it; Treadwell: after about the 2'30" point, a tiny light scratch that's briefly delivering a light click; Mohawk: perfect; Visa: perfect.  It's hard to find better vinyl of any age, but for one this old it's like magic.  I think I'm asking a fair price for a special album. Just cleaned with a VPI wet-vac system.  I'll pay the shipping via USPS Media Mail.
