HISTORY OF TRANSA

- After two years of exile in London, (MILITAR GOVERNMENT did not arrested or kild) Caetano Veloso, but he was sent out of country or jail...

WATCH "TROPICALIA" DOCUMENTARY FROM BBC, TO UNDERSTAND THE 60´S IN BRAZIL

... found himself immersed in the anguish that miss Brazil provoked. Exile, in 1969, in his friend's company, also a musician, Gilberto Gil, singer missed the Brazilian soil. Miss, above all, its sad Bahia

- Titled Transa, the album portrays nothing less than nostalgia - half full of pessimism, through hope. Despite the immense desire to return to his homeland, Caetano felt consumed by the thought that possibly could not return to Brazil soon due to the political situation that the country was: a military dictatorship. Established in 1964 under the command of the military dictatorship settled repression against any idea who contests his regime.similar to cold war panic in us. more than 3.000 students were killed. population living in fear till 1984.

- The MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) musical style that emerged in this decade (60´s), Caetano had as one of its founders. This style that was characterized by a large, lyrically, social awareness and political activism - which irritated the military period. How great political challenger, Caetano Veloso came to be confused with a militant leftist, thus gaining the enmity of the Brazilian military regime.

- In January 1971, Caetano Veloso was authorized to attend the celebration of Mass 40 years of marriage of his parents in Brazil. Back in England, was faced with reggae in Portobelo Road and fell in love; melancholy and depression by exile were leaving him, the visit to his native country was enough to reinvigorate it. Caetano felt ready to record a new album, and influenced by reggae Jamaican living in Britain, and the Brazilian styles he loved: balloon, samba and bossa nova; formulated a rich disk as regards musicality.

- Acted as an intermediary between Brazil and England, between Bahia and London. In Transa, the stranger says to the English "You Do not Know Me", is proud to be the Bahia and hail over the country he loves - giving a "abraçaço" in the Brazilian culture and interconnects with the reggae Portobelo and rock 'n' roll bands like The Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

- The disc appointment was in reference to slang that broke out in the country. "TRANSA" was a synonymous of to have sex, but it was "fuck" transaction,
Was maybe LIKE SAYING GIVE A "fuck"to  the Trans-Amazon (trans amazonica / transa masonica) ( highway being built in the country TO CROSS ALL COUNTRY FROM SOUTH TO NORTH, CROSSING AND BREAKING MANY PROBLEMS AS INDIAN TRIBES EXTINCTION . FOR EXAMPLE..

TRACK BY TRACK -

- The first track on the disc, "You Do not Know Me", was attended by Gal Costa, who came to England against exiled friends. Sang the first verse of "Nostalgia" song, the most representative of the composition, by the passage of Caetano authoring, and present the eponymous singer, 1969. The song depicts a foreigner who does not know anyone in the country now resides. At first, it seems Caetano dialogue with an Englishman, after declaring himself alone, the Bahian singer takes his Brazilianness and sings the pride he feels for his land.

- "Nine Out Of Ten" illustrates the first reggae beats heard outside of Jamaica, in Portobelo Road, England - song that, according to the composer, is proud to have been, in fact, the first Brazilian music to incorporate reggae elements. Caetano makes clear: "I'm alive and alive, very much alive, alive, alive ...", listen to the music of Jamaican in Portobelo Road gave Caetano joy of living.

- The "transaction" took place in London, and was the second disc of the Bahian singer in English lands. After the second self-titled album, released in 1971, it was time of the transaction. Before, however, Caetano went through a moment of melancholy - this melancholy portrayed in his facial expression on his namesake recorded in England. The moment was motivation for the stranger that did not feel like singing or burn discs, but stagnation was short lived.

- "Sad Bahia" brings together some eponymous poem verses of Gregorio de Matos of authorship, Bahian poet, and it is added other verses of the singer authorship. "Sad Bahia" portrays more intense the longing he felt Bahia, Caetano it stresses the peculiar beauty of his homeland - another strong point of the song is the way he portrays African culture, something that clearly excites the exile.

- "It's A Long Way" is perhaps the disco song that features several moments to the listener, as it features many variations over the course of six minutes of the track. Full of references, such as "Consolation" by Baden Powell and Vinicius de Morais, "Sôdade, honey, Sôdade" North Ze Paraiba, the song "The Legend of Abaeté", the Bahian Dorival Caymmi, and "Water Sand "Jair Amorim and Jacobina. In "Arrenego who says / That our love is gone / He is now stronger / Than when he began," Caetano said that although distant, love for their homeland remains alive.

- In "Lives In Philosophy", rewriting a samba Monsueto Menezes, from Bahia cries. "Lives in philosophy / What for rhyming love and pain?" Caetano Veloso to transform a samba in an English ballad misanthropic character. The two less emotionally impactful, but not weaker so "Neolithic Man" and "Nostalgia (That's what rock'n'roll is all about)" drink more at the source of the English influences of Caetano in styles and rhythms of Brazilian music he loves. The experimentation in "Neolithic Man" makes it seem the most confusing and different from the disco, while the latter is a rock-blues and shows clear influences from bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

- launched more than 40 years ago, today, achieved the status of not only the-better-disk-to-Caetano, but also the status of one of the best (and innovative, by the way) discs of Brazilian music. "Shag" represented the sex of Bahia with London, Brazil and England. Told the story of a shaped exile, who likes to London, enjoy your green grass, but that misses your balloon, its tropicalism, its Maria Bethania, and, above all, its sad and dissimilar Bahia.
