Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else 1958 Mono 1st Press on Blue Note white/blue DG label, 47W 63rd address, no Inc after Blue Note and no ® on the labels. RVG is stamped in the run out grooves with the Plastylite P or "Ear" ( see photos).
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl has retained a good lustre with some visible light scuffs, hairlines and marks but no feelable damage. Clean labels, good spindle holes with light spindle trails visible. Graded VG visually but plays closer to VG+
Playtest reveals an astonishingly vibrant mono sound with immediacy & huge presence. The vinyl plays superbly for the age with no jumping or sticking, light crackle/noise in a few places but overall really good for the age.
The rigid cardboard sleeve is solid with a good glossy shine & print colours retained. Lovely readable spine. There is corner rubbing and small areas of flaking to the top seam plus a 5cm split to the bottom seam opening. The rear notes section is discoloured from age with mild foxing and one small stain but still very clear and readable. No writing or ugly tape repairs.
A paper inner sleeve is present (original?) but is torn/worn. We have decanted the record into a new poly lined inner to preserve it.
A rare copy of a sought after album for a collector in great playable condition owned by the late Stan Tracey.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
