Description

Carol Kidd 'Nice Work' - 12" inch vinyl stereo LP (33 1/3 rpm) – Linn - AKH 006 - 1987             #cr#

Description

      • 12 inch, stereo LP, 33 1/3 rpm
      • This album was originally released on Glasgow's Linn Records in 1987
      • It features Carol Kidd's interpretations of 13 songs from the 'Great American Songbook'
      • Musicians are Sandy Taylor - piano, Alex Moore - guitars, Murray Smith - drums, with guest musicians on brass and saxophone (including Carol's then husband, George, on trombone)
      • Recorded at Castlesound  Studios, Pencaitland, near Edinburgh, Scotland

      • Track listing:
        • Side 1:-  Nice Work If You Can Get It(Gershwin/Gershwin): Havin' Myself A Time (Robin/Rainger): Isn't It A Pity? (Gershwin/Gershwin): Bidin' My Time (Gershwin/Gershwin): Sing For Your Supper (Rodgers/Hart): Day Dream (Strayhorn/Ellington/Latouche)
        • Side 2:- I'll Take Romance (Oakland/Hammerstein): New York On Sunday(Coates/Nero): What Is There To Say? (Harburg/ Duke): Mean To Me (Ahlert/ Turk): Guess I'll Have To Change My Plan (Schwartz/Dietz): Starting Tomorrow (Tobias/Pockriss): Confessions (Schwartz/Dietz)
      • All tracks were arranged by Sandy Wilson, with assistance by Bob McWhirter on the brass selection, apart from 'Starting Tomorrow' which was arranged by Bob Mc Whirter alone
      • The outer sleeve was designed by Don Fitzpatrick with black and white photos by Eve Arnold. It bears a label from Acorn Music of Barnstaple (which I assume was a branch of the legendary Yeovil independent record store)
          • Plain, white paper, inner sleeve

          • Catalogue number AKH 006
        • Matrix marks:- Side 1 MPO AKH 006 - A' SIDE - MARTIN LINN  etched
        •                         Side 2 MPO AKH 006 - B' SIDE - MARTIN - LINN  LP12 etched
        •

          Condition

          • The record appears to be in excellent condition and shows little sign of having been played.
          • No signs of warping and no visible scratches.
          • Plays very well with no noticeable surface noise.
          • The outer sleeve has two very slight creases at two corners and a small dink at the opening (see photos).
          • The inner sleeve is unmarked   (see photos)
          • Based on the guidelines of the Record Collectors Guild, I would say this record is 'Very Good +' (www.recordcollectorsguild.org)
