ARTIST : THE CHICO HAMILTON QUINTET

TITLE : LITHO (ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK)

LABEL & CATALOG NUMBER : NO LABEL / NO NUMBER

FORMAT : ONE-SIDED LP

COVER CONDITION : VG+ some general wear & minor foxing.

VINYL CONDITION : VG+ great gloss, 2 long surface marks, very clean otherwise. clean labels.

NOTES : extremely rare & obscure title here, this is a single-sided MONO lp industry soundtrack produced & privately released by the the AMALGAMATED LITHOGRAPHERS OF AMERICA LOCAL 1, NEW YORK USA in 1962. this short promotional film unexpectedly drafted a highly progress jazz unit for the soundtrack. lead by drummer CHICO HAMILTON this group also features early appearances by CHARLES LLOYD, GABOR SZABO (credited only as "GABBY"), GEORGE BOHANON, and ALBERT STINSON. liner notes are in russian & english as the film toured to the U.S.S.R. and this lp was likely released in conjunction with that screening, being the first american film ever shown in that country. due to the nature of this releases pressing quality was certainly rather small, as these would not have been made available for commercial sale. a very cool early obscurity for these artists, in their most formative period. not likely to see this one again any time soon.
