Very Rare Original UK prog Rock Album!!
A rare underground 60s progressive psych album!
Another from my personal collection! I purchased this album from new over 44 years ago back in 1969 and originally only ever played this a handfull of times and then recorded this to tape, the album was then stored in a case laying dormant with the vinyl seperated from the cover for protection the way that I have always stored my records. There were not many original UK copies pressed, and any that surface for sale are normally seen in a terrible state! The condition of this album on offer is superb throughout and has obviously stood the test of time! I have played the vinyl prior to this listing through out at very loud volume on a top system and the quality is stunning cristal clear and very vibrant so hard to find like this believe me. These vinyls were pressed with very close grooves and being stereo it is exteemely hard to find good sounding copies at least in this condition and static, ticks heard was very minimal indeed I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to very near mint. The original 1st issue laminated front only cover is also in exceptional condition minor storage ware only graded at least excellent if not better. The demand for this album is such that reissues on 180 gram vinyls have been produced. The mono variant very rarely surfaces for sale and UK originals are very scarce indeed. This is the original UK 1st pressing in stereo!
Andrew (Andy) Clark (born Simon Andrew Clark) is an English rock composer and performer who is best known for his work on keyboards and synthesizer in the 1970s, playing and recording alongside Mick Hutchinson, in Clark Hutchinson, alongside Jeff Beck with his involvement in Upp and on the album Wired, and alongside guitarist Bill Nelson in Be-Bop Deluxe and Red Noise. He also worked for several years in Los Angeles, California as a session musician and has credits on records by artists including David Bowie.
Andy Clark first came to prominence as a founder member with guitarist Mick Hutchinson of the late 1960s instrumental duo (later four-piece) Clark Hutchinson, both of them having previously played in the underground band, Sam Gopal Dream. Clark Hutchinson recorded four albums between 1969 and 1971, the most successful being this album for sale A=MH². In 1979 Andy played keyboards and synthesizers on the debut album Ashes And Diamonds of singer Zaine Griff, an important point in his career.
Hans Zimmer, the now world famous film music composer who made scores for over 100 famous films, played synthesizers and programmed computers and producer of the album was the famous rockstar producer Tony Visconti, who produced most of David Bowie's albums. After finishing the recordings Bowie asked Zaine and his band (among them also Andy Clark) to re-record three wellknown Bowie songs: Space Oddity, Panic In Detroit and Rebel Rebel. After this Bowie asked Andy to join his musicians in the recording of his next album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), which became a very creative and highly appreciated album.

The Vinyl
On initial inspection this looks like new, awesome super original glossy sheen from new still retained a beautiful looking vinyl! Initially I can hardly see a blemish at all, and in my opinion looks almost like new! In strong light only could possibly very few surface marks be seen (mainly sleeve removal only)! Which have very little if (no) effect on the awesome playback. (note, this had only been played a handful of times when I originally purchased this record and recorded tp tape then stored in a case for over 44 years)The Audio
(Look! Earliest "1 to 1" Mother Stampers for the best possible audio on vinyl)
I have played this through track for track on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is awesome Top sounding on all frequencies! Super Super seperation! Cristal clear and vibrant with (no) signs of distortion or that this has been overplayed at all Please note! Quite amaizingly I never heard any major interfearance at all (no) distortion (no) nasty background static crackle from being over played. Please note! These early Decca Nova originals were closely cut grooved vinyls. Please allow for very few isolated very light static ticks. I heard two or three at the very intro to the first track probably caused by a needle been dropped at the start of the vinyl and perhape the odd light tick here and there intermitently but not nasty loud clicks or pops! I am probably being highly critical. The audio is quite exceptional indeed considering there are many quiet passages during the play of this album ! ! THIS IS EXCEPTIONAL AUDIO! Audio must be at least Excellent plus to very Near as Mint in my opinion! I dought that it will be easy to find a better sounding original copy!
Absolutely superbe!!A very playable vinyl with just very, very minor isolated light static tics as previously described/ that perhapes might not even be noticable on some systems, Please note that I play test these vinyls at very loud volume and i would class myself as extremely critical! (no) nasty clicks or pops!.
Please note! It is easy to be critical about these early pressings especially the fact that there are so many many quiet tracks!,, Please allow for some light static /ticks (not) consistant throughout the audio! ,Although I never heard any problems ,Please remember that this is a 40 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system!
A constant clean is recommended before each play. This vinyl has been stored in a case for at least 30 years or more laying dormant! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks and constant cleaning reduces this!!
The labels
These feature the original DECCA NOVA labels in superbe condition! Amaizingly I find it difficult to see no more than one spider mark on each side even when angled in strong light.(This has barely ever been played no more than three or four times of times if that. unbeleivable to find like this) This certainly has not been overplayed! Little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round a real beauty!
The Record Sleeve
This is a Decca sleeve with no splits or tares light creasing with age only!
The Cover
This is the original early very fragile laminated MOORE AND MATTHES cover! In awesome condition (rarely seen like this! (AMAIZINGLY No real nasty main laminated creases to talk of (If you can see any laminate creases they are very fine only) (no) nasty splits , or tares! There is some very light corner bumping at the top and bottom opening edge corners to mention but very small only! If scrutinised very slight storageware minor creases at the rear but you have to look to notice this. UNBELEIVABLE CONDITION SUPERBE SPINE! ! Please note! This features the original fragile flimsy type cover that is often seen in a terrible state, (Very hard to keep in good condition) Any storage ware/markings/ring ware or rubbing at the edges you would have to look for to notice any and they are very light noticed if angled to the light only. This must be at least Excellent if not better in my opinion very hard to find like this!
