Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

... sought first Lp by the underground sounds of THE COLLECTORS ~ Canadian psych band that released two sought and collected albums...

Behind this superb Art Nouveau artwork sleeve is hiding one of the true, hidden and forgotten gems of Canada. To achieve this kind of perfection as a first try, back in the late 60’s is simply astounding (the only had a few singles beforehand) and unfortunately all too rare. Bill Henderson and Claire Lawrence (the main core of the group) make a fantastic songwriting partnership.

Right from the start , guys know how to bait a discerning psychead, by giving us a taste of what is to come without revealing how the main course with the opening What Is Love and then plunging into serious business with She, a real feast for vocal harmonies; they were just teasing us and the wait is over; Everything we suspected in the first two songs get confirmation with Howard Christian’s Older, loaded with drama, suspense and that typical late 60’s flavour when everything was still to be done musically, artistically, socially, sexually, and generally progressive-wise. A full blown epic in just five min, even if the superb vocals account for roughly 50% of the spine chills; Lydia Purple is more popish, just to give us a break, but then comes the first nail in your coffin, One Act Play. Somehow not far away from very groovy moments that these guys bring you in ecstasy without any gadgets.

But all of that you have heard so far was simply foreplay, just getting your ears/appetite warmed-up for the main orgy: the 19 min+ What Love where not one single second is wasted in self-indulging solos (as was the craze back then): no, we are dealing with an epic that could’ve been divided into multi-movement suite and outside a few moments that clearly outline we are in '68, this is one of the earliest prog/psych epics. These guys are not content to rivet you to your seat, they are holding you still so they are driving nails into your coffin and every minute going by is sealing your fate. Don’t even think for a second they are taking the easy road either, a round the 10 min mark, they drive a spike right through heart, another through your brains and the last one right in your genitals. A slight fluttering flute warns you that you have reached paradise. This record might just drive this atheist to heaven !

These guys were strong enough that JIM MORRISON of The Doors noted THE COLLECTORS were one of his favorite bands (and he didn't like "rock" groups per se), his taste was in traditional blues and throw-back lounge lizard audio enhancements from another era.
