Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE, sought and GREAT...Original 1973 Canada first pressing in thick grainy textured cover ...Getting things straight, there is nothing fusion-y about the sound of the Fusion Orchestra, and precious little orchestral, Fusion Orchestra were rather a mighty hard rock band with a twin guitar attack and a secret weapon, female singer and multi-instrumentalist (flute and various keyboards) Jill Saward.
In terms of 70s music Fusion Orchestra were an outstanding example of an obscure British prog-psych hardrock band with great ideas and well written/performed self compositions -delivering a thrilling electrified heavy sound - one that provides a great surprise for the unsuspecting listener.... The three major pieces here are the immense 'Sonata in Z', 'Talk to the Man in the Sky' and the jamming brilliant 'Skeleton In Armour' title track. All pieces
are characterised by epic instrumental phases, changes of tempo, superb
musicianship and, of course, Jill Saward's powerful vocals. Fusion Orchestra could certainly rock it with the best of them with heavy riffing on the title track and shredding on 'Sonata' demonstrates.A
The little-known powerhouse Fusion Orchestra was one of the best of the many long-lost British groups that celebrated the new progressive sound of the early 1970s. As noted above, leader Jill Saward, the impact-of-sound vocalist takes the reins as firmly as any male musician of her time and belts out a wail that gets attention quickly, along with her flute playing and contributions on synthesizer are a winning combination of high quality. And the band just rocks; Colin Dawson carves out tasteful and intelligent hard riffs on guitar, Sten Land fleshes things out on synth, and guitar, and Dave Bell & David Cowell are an ideal rhythm section. This, their only album, was easily trodden upon by the giant that prog had become by 1973. And that's a real shame, because this record, quietly released in '73 contains some of the most creative and distinct heavy progressive rock up to that point, and is a treasure seeker's find from that all too brief era when the majority of British rock was, in one way or another, 'progressive'.
Though guitar-based and hard rockin' by nature, the band incorporated all sorts of things that were now available to the rock ensemble including classical structures, Baroque flirtations, smoky jazz fusion, street party hardrock, and metallic harmony. Best of all, they had a yearn for what a band could do within the standard rock format without becoming experimental, as on eleven minute 'Sonata in Z'. 'Have I Left the Gas On?' will remind of early Jethro Tull and the fabulous title cut is not to be missed. The 12-minute heavy symphonic blues opus 'Talk to the Man in the Sky' has great double-guitar lines, bedroom keyboards, and driving riff-rock that defies anything many of the top popular bands of the era would do.1. CONDITION: The Cover: hard textured/grainy cover is near "EX" (excellent) would be M- but for some light ageing at far right, not real notivcable unless looking, overall nstiff and solid all over....from nearly 40 years ago
The Vinyl: all clean over both sides, "EX" (excellent) (no scratches) looks like some light top surface inner sleeve rub wear is all ... expect enjoyable audio playback, clean EMI labels ... one to own for hard prog & psych collectors...
