Description
This is an auction for the debut lp by Colosseum entitled Valentyne Suite released in the UK in 1969 on Vertigo Records catalogue number VO 1, making it the first lp released on the famous label. This is an early press with the matrix numbers of:
Side 1- 884 775 1Y 1 420 11 23
Side 2- 886 775 2Y 1 420 11 2
The vinyl is visually in Excellent + condition with only some very very light sleeve removal type marks visible. I have listened to the entire lp at high volume and it plays through very well. It sits nice and flat on the turntable and plays through without any skips, jumps, clicks or ticks. There is some very light background static noise in parts but overall the sound is clear and punchy throughout and i happy to grade the audio as at least Excellent++.
The labels are in excellent condition with some light spindle marks visible. There is still plenty of plastic in the spindle holes which indicates that this lp has not been overplayed in any way.
The original gatefold sleeve is in Very Good+ condition with some storage wear to the spine and edges ( you can still read the spine). There are are 2 very small initials written in the bottom of the inside gatefold but these are barely noticeable. The inside of the gatefold still looks excellent when opened.
The lp comes with it's original swirly inner which is in excellent condition. The lp will be sent in a new inner to avoid tears.
Overall a very nice copy of this rare lp.

Grading:- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
